New Paley TV Special on CBS Dec. 26; Syfy Celebrates 20th Anniversary of The Twilight Zone New Year's Eve Marathon
CBS will broadcast an all-new Paley Center for Media Special this holiday season. Now That's Funny! On Set with TV's Hottest Comedies, voiced by Aisha Tyler (The Talk, Archer, Whose Line Is it Anyway?), takes a behind-the-scenes look at primetime's hottest comedies and features insightful interviews with their stars and producers. The program will be broadcast Friday, Dec. 26 from 8:00-9:30 PM ET/PT on the CBS Television Network. The Paley Center for Media special will share moments from the sets of The Big Bang Theory, Mom, Modern Family, Parks and Recreation, The Mindy Project, Episodes, Key and Peele and New Girl. Viewers will get a backstage look into the intricate process of getting TV's funniest shows on the air week after week. From the brainstorming of the writer's room, to the informal hilarity of the table read, to the energy and spontaneity of the actual performance, audiences will see how their favorite shows continue to keep fans laughing. Among the casts and producers interviewed for the special are Chuck Lorre, Jim Parsons, Allison Janney, Steve Levitan, Chris Lloyd, Sofia Vergara, Mike Schur, Amy Poehler, Mindy Kaling, Matt LeBlanc, David Crane, Keegan-Michael Key, Jordan Peele, Elizabeth Merriwether and Zooey Deschanel.
Syfy will celebrate the holiday season with the Original Movie Christmas Icetastrophe, a Christmas Day disaster film marathon, and the 20th annual New Year's Eve celebration of Rod Serling's legendary series The Twilight Zone, which will take viewers into a dimension as vast as space and as timeless as infinity. In Christmas Icetastrophe, premiering Saturday, December 20 at 9PM (ET/PT), an asteroid strikes a small town preparing for Christmas, triggering an explosive wave of ice crystals that threatens to freeze all life on Earth. The movie stars Victor Webster (Continuum), Jennifer Spence (Stargate Universe) and Richard Harmon (Bates Motel). The holiday programming festival heats up on Christmas Day with a full day of cold weather-themed movies. And finally, of course, Syfy will close out 2014 with The Twilight Zone marathon, which runs Wednesday, December 31 from 8AM until 5AM, concluding Thursday, January 1 from 6AM to 6AM. More info to come!
