SitcomsOnline Digest: Patricia Heaton Eyes a Return to TV With CBS Sitcom; VEI Announced Bad News Bears TV Series DVD Release

Welcome to SitcomsOnline Digest! Fall is here and in full force, but there are yet still a few more fall season premieres to come... and we'll get those this week at ABC! Meanwhile, we've got news of a possible new sitcom for Patricia Heaton (you didn't think she was going away, did you?), another cast member leaving Shameless, and news of a rare sitcom release from VEI. Let's get going!

HIGHLIGHTS FROM SITCOMSONLINE.COM AND AROUND THE WEB
  • Patricia Heaton may be taking a little time off from work for now, but she's ready to jump back into action with yet another new sitcom that is in development at CBS, Carol's Second Act. (Variety)
  • First, Emmy Rossum announced she was leaving Shameless, and now Cameron Monaghan has announced the same, leaving people to wonder how the show can go on with the existing characters. (Entertainment Weekly)
  • Actress Peggy McCay, who is mostly known for her long-running role on Days of Our Lives but also had guest starring roles in numerous sitcoms and primetime dramas, has died at age 90. (Hollywood Reporter)
  • Even if it was a memorable series that is still watched to this day, Steve Carrell says that new episodes of The Office wouldn't work in today's social climate. (Deadline)
  • Late Night with Seth Meyers will be going live on election night, with MSNBC's Chris Hayes to help discuss everything. (TVLine)
  • We're only barely out of the summer 2018 TV season (arguably it's still winding down as there are still a few fall series that haven't even debuted yet), but The CW is already looking ahead to next summer. (SitcomsOnline)
