SitcomsOnline Digest: Roseanne Reboot Casts David and Darlene's Daughter; The CW Developing New Series Based Upon Sabrina Character
HIGHLIGHTS FROM SITCOMSONLINE.COM AND AROUND THE WEB
- The role of David and Darlene's daughter for the Roseanne reboot has been cast, and it's sort of a surprising pick, as it is somebody who has experience playing a regular role as daughter in a far more dysfunctional family: Emma Kenney, who plays Debbie, on the Showtime series Shameless. (Deadline)
- We're not quite sure we can call this one a reboot, but a series based upon the character Sabrina (the teenage witch, of course) is in development at The CW, but even though it'll be based upon the same character that the popular sitcom that starred Melissa Joan Hart was based upon, it will be a much different series that is a dark drama. (Variety)
- Saturday Night Live has set the first few hosts of the new season, and Kumail Nanjiani is among them. (Variety)
- The ratings for the Emmy Awards were even worse this year than last year. (CNN)
- Jimmy Kimmel has been making headlines in the past week by doing something that is completely unexpected and out of the ordinary for his late night talk show Jimmy Kimmel Live!, and that is taking a stance on a political issue… and he is hitting harder than any of the other ones. (Variety)
- Not only is Will & Grace coming back on NBC, you can also catch up on the original series now on Hulu. (SitcomsOnline)
HOME MEDIA HIGHLIGHTS
- We can't quite figure out what Sony is trying to do here, but it seems that the first four seasons of Rules of Engagement will be released in Rules of Engagement - Seasons 1-4 Collection (meaning it excludes the fifth and sixth seasons that were previously released, as well as the seventh that was never released).
- Warner Archive is going full steam ahead with The Jamie Foxx Show, with The Jamie Foxx Show - The Complete Fourth Season, set for an October 24 release.
TUESDAY (SEPTEMBER 26) HOME MEDIA RELEASES
