Dancing with the Stars Returning to ABC in Fall; Conan O'Brien Producing New Podcast Miniseries

Dancing with the Stars will make history once again becoming the first series to simulcast across both ABC and Disney+ for its upcoming 32nd season, and will be available the next day on Hulu. Beginning this fall, the beloved show will reach audiences across multiple Disney platforms in their respective time zones. Dancing with the Stars is the hit series hosted by Alfonso Ribeiro and Julianne Hough in which celebrities are paired with trained ballroom dancers to compete in themed choreographed dance routines that are judged by a panel of renowned ballroom experts, including Carrie Ann Inaba, Bruno Tonioli and Derek Hough. The show is produced in front of a live audience by BBC Studios Los Angeles Productions.
Conan O'Brien's award-winning podcast Conan O'Brien Needs a Friend announced a brand new podcast miniseries, The Lost Hans & Franz Movie. The four-part podcast series -- featuring comedy legends Conan O'Brien, Dana Carvey, Robert Smigel, and Kevin Nealon -- will drop new episodes weekly beginning Wednesday, May 17. The Lost Hans & Franz Movie is a Conan O'Brien Needs a Friend audio miniseries about Hans & Franz, a movie musical that was never made. Hans & Franz was originally a screenplay written by O'Brien, Carvey, Smigel, and Nealon, based on the 1980's Saturday Night Live sketch starring Carvey and Nealon. Although it was in development at Sony, then Columbia Pictures, in the early 1990's, the musical was never made into a motion picture, but would have starred Carvey and Nealon, as well as Arnold Schwarzenegger (playing himself and other characters in the script).
The podcast miniseries' cast is comprised of the original four writers: O'Brien, Carvey, Smigel, and Nealon. In each episode, they will read selected scenes from the screenplay, and then use those scenes as a jumping off point to reminisce and riff about this formative time in their lives. Carvey recently referenced the film script on O’Brien’s podcast, which was the catalyst for the new miniseries, as the team thought it would be fun to revisit this project. After several meetings, Team Coco secured the rights to read the script for the podcast, and will be airing this podcast miniseries on the Conan O’Brien Needs a Friend feed. Universal Pictures’ R-rated comedy Strays is the presenting sponsor of The Lost Hans and Franz Movie, a special Conan O’Brien Needs A Friend miniseries.
