Welcome to SitcomsOnline Digest! Things are a little slower this week, but we are about a month away from that new fall season! This week, we're hearing about some Emmy Award changes, a show about doorbells (sort of), and more. Let's get going!

- Presumably because we've hit the point where the major game shows are in primetime lineups as opposed to daytime TV series, game shows are now part of the primetime Emmys. (Variety)
- In this week's unusual "who thought of that" idea, we have a syndicated viral video show based upon video recorded via Ring doorbells is in the works, which is to be hosted by Wanda Sykes. (Deadline)
- Jon Batiste is leaving his role of band leader on The Late Show. (ABC News)
- Spectrum Originals barely made a splash, so it is probably no surprise that they're being phased out. (Deadline)
- We've had a lot to say about how Discovery is trying to change HBO and Warner Brothers, mostly for the worse, by cancelling anything with a script and replacing it with cheap unscripted Chip and Joanna Gaines style Discovery content, and now John Oliver has called his boss out for it on his own show, describing it as "burning down my network for the insurance money."
