SitcomsOnline Digest: Max Headroom Reboot in Works at AMC Networks; Jeopardy! to Continue Dual Host Plan

Welcome to SitcomsOnline Digest! This week, we are hearing about a reboot of a short-lived (but much beloved) 80s TV series, we're learning of the long-term plans for hosts on Jeopardy!, and more. Let's get going!

HIGHLIGHTS FROM SITCOMSONLINE.COM AND AROUND THE WEB

A series reboot of Max Headroom, with the original star even, is in the works at AMC Networks. (Deadline)
It looks as if the current Jeopardy! hosting arrangement of two rotating hosts will be continuing indefinitely. (CNN)
In the old days, the idea of rebroadcasting a network sitcom was a thought that didn't come up until about the fourth season, but now, after just 13 episodes, Abbott Elementary rights have been sold to both HBO Max and Hulu. (Variety)
Chris Cuomo, who was once the star of the CNN primetime lineup, is headed to NewsNation this fall to host a nightly program. (Deadline)
We rarely talk about soap operas on here and never talk about Australian series at all, but it's kind of a big deal when an Australian soap opera that has been on since 1985 ends after 9000 episodes, which is what happened this week with Neighbours. (NY Times)
In the network's continuing strategy to cancel anything that costs money to produce, TBS has cancelled Full Frontal with Samantha Bee. (Deadline)
Hopefully, plans don't change for this, but it looks like TBS is actually going to try to air a new season of American Dad! starting on Labor Day. (SitcomsOnline)

WEEKLY PLANNER (JULY 30 - AUGUST 5)

It's finally happening: Beavis and Butt-Head returns for new episodes on Paramount+ on Thursday.
You can ride along with Decades this weekend for a binge of Taxi.
FX has a new season of Reservation Dogs on Wednesday.
