SitcomsOnline Digest: Roku to Acquire Much of Quibi Library; ABC Sees Success in Thursday Night Game Shows

Welcome to SitcomsOnline Digest! It's another slow news week (well, slow in the television industry anyway... it's been very loud elsewhere), but we've got a little bit for you including some ratings news, a new home for Quibi programming, and more. Let's get going!

  • Quibi may be dead, but the library of programming will live on thanks to Roku. (NY Post)
  • ABC's first night of Thursday night game shows was a success. (Deadline)
  • Also in ratings, cable news networks had huge ratings during the events in DC on Wednesday, including CNN which had their largest number of viewers in network history. (IndieWire)
  • Not a sitcom, but Calliou (often considered the most annoying children's program out there) has been "retired" by PBS. (TVLine)
  • A premiere date for the new Punky Brewster has been set. (SitcomsOnline)

  • ABC's Wednesday night comedy lineup returns this week, with the new series Call Your Mother included in the lineup.
  • CBS brings back their Thursday night comedies this week as well.
  • Decades has a binge of The Odd Couple this weekend.
  • Search Party is back for a fourth season, now on HBO Max, on Thursday.

When the insanity at the DMV causes a new hire to quit, Colette worries Noa will follow and tries to make things better despite colleague Gregg’s advice. Meanwhile, employees and customers struggle through a sweltering L.A. day with a barely functional air conditioner.

TV We Love - "The Brady Bunch" (The CW, 8:00PM ET/PT)
The Brady Bunch stars Barry Williams and Christopher Knight open up about growing up Brady, sharing never-before-told stories of America's favorite blended family.
