SitcomsOnline Digest: Lizzie McGuire Reboot to Include Original Cast; New DVDs for The Mindy Project and Step by Step

Welcome to SitcomsOnline Digest! We used to be known as Digital Digest around here and focused on DVD releases, but had to move on from that once those releases slowed down significantly... but this week, we have some actual DVD news about two sitcom releases of some favorites! We're also hearing casting news about the Lizzie McGuire reboot on Disney+ and more. Let's get going!

HIGHLIGHTS FROM SITCOMSONLINE.COM AND AROUND THE WEB
  • The Lizzie McGuire reboot that is coming to Disney+ will come with the original cast intact. (USA Today)
  • Felicity Huffman has finished her 11 days of hard time, but Lori Loughlin (who is missing from Hallmark's Christmas movie lineup this year) is still fighting her charges. (Hollywood Reporter)
  • Fox has set premiere dates for midseason series, including Last Man Standing. (Deadline)
  • Jerry Fogel, who starred in The Mothers-in-Law and later appeared on The White Shadow, has died. (Hollywood Reporter)
  • CBS has ordered additional episodes of some of their sitcoms. (SitcomsOnline)  

HOME MEDIA HIGHLIGHTS

  • Mill Creek is releasing The Mindy Project - The Complete Series on both DVD and Blu-ray on January 14.
  • Step by Step - The Complete Fifth Season is coming November 5 from Warner Archive.

WEEKLY PLANNER (OCTOBER 26 - NOVEMBER 1)
  • Decades has a binge of Ghost Story/Circle of Fear this weekend.
  • Antenna TV celebrates their witches in the lineup, Samantha and Sabrina, with a marathon of Sabrina, the Teenage Witch and Bewitched on Thursday.
  • It's already Christmas time at Hallmark Channel and Lifetime, as the non-stop Christmas movies have already started.
  • The final season of Silicon Valley debuts tomorrow on HBO.
  • The new Apple TV streaming service debuts on Friday, though it won't have any binge-worthy classic TV series as it's competitors have.
