SitcomsOnline Digest: Walker, Texas Ranger Reboot in the Works; South Park Banned in China

- A little over a week ago, South Park mocked China with an episode called "Band in China," and now, South Park has been banned in China. (Hollywood Reporter)
- Alex Trebek is recently stated in an interview with Canada's CTV that he is "nearing the end of his life" as his cancer treatment is not going particularly well, and may need to step down as host of Jeopardy! in the near future. (Yahoo! News)
- The California wildfires have shutdown production of a number of TV series. (Deadline)
- In an unexpected announcement yesterday that surprised even his coworkers, Shepard Smith (who is known as the perhaps the face of the "news" side of things at Fox News, and often serves as anchor for major news events on the Fox broadcast network) abruptly announced that he was leaving the network that he has been with since the day that the network debuted. - Two more seasons of the TBS comedy Search Party are coming soon, but they will air on the HBO Max streaming service. (SitcomsOnline)
HOME MEDIA HIGHLIGHTS
- It's pretty expensive and only 1000 copies are being made (and possibly already sold out, though we aren't certain of that), but if you want a DVD set of the first 20 seasons of The Simpsons, it's coming, with The Simpsons - Twenty Seasons and Many More to Come. This may be worth purchasing if you've missed out on previous DVD releases, as those seem to be out of print now.
