SitcomsOnline Digest: Fall Premiere Dates for CBS; CBS and Viacom in Merger Talks Yet Again

Welcome to SitcomsOnline Digest! We're in the dull and boring part of the summer, but we have a few stories for you this week, including CBS fall premiere dates, and update on Alec Baldwin's Saturday Night Live status, and more. Let's get going!

HIGHLIGHTS FROM SITCOMSONLINE.COM AND AROUND THE WEB
  • CBS has set their fall premiere dates. (Hollywood Reporter)
  • The longest running on-again/off-again relationship between CBS and Viacom, which is old as TV itself (Viacom originally began as CBS Films in 1952 and was spunoff as a separate entity in 1971), seems to be on the verge of being on again with the two entities at least trying to become one big family again. (CNBC)
  • Just as we suspected, Alec Baldwin is now backing down from his comments that he is "done" playing Donald Trump on Saturday Night Live. (TVLine)
  • Local TV news stations have started issuing their own station-based "alert days" for days with potential severe weather that go against the guidance of the National Weather Service, and one meteorologist for Sinclair Broadcasting spoke up against that. Now, he has been fired. (Deadline)
  • Antenna TV has some lineup changes coming, and they will bring Webster, What's Happening!!, and What's Happening Now!! back to the lineup. (SitcomsOnline)
