SitcomsOnline Digest: Looking at Sitcom Cancellations Ahead of Upfronts; Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt Returning for Interactive Special
- As we prepare for learning the fall lineup for the broadcast networks, we have a busy week of cancellations, including sitcoms such as Murphy Brown, The Cool Kids, Life in Pieces, Splitting Up Together, Speechless, and more. (Variety)
- Steve Harvey's daytime talk show has been cancelled, leaving him with one less job. (Variety)
- Not everything is getting cancelled. Grey's Anatomy, which is now a relic of an era when broadcast TV was dominated by shows like The Office and Desperate Housewives, has been renewed for two more seasons. (Deadline)
- Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt is returning to Netflix for an interactive special. (CNN)
- In the old days, you knew that the national evening news meant Tom Brokaw, Peter Jennings, and Dan Rather, but now it seems the anchors change all the time. Now, Jeff Glor is out as as anchor of CBS Evening News, but Norah O'Donnell will be replacing him in a few months. (Variety)
- More stars have been added to the live All in the Family and The Jeffersons special that ABC is airing on May 22. (Deadline) )

WEEKLY PLANNER (MAY 11 - MAY 17)
- The final episode of The Big Bang Theory airs on Thursday night, almost putting an entire era of sitcoms (that'll come next year as Modern Family ends) to an end.
- Several other season finales will air this week, including Young Sheldon, Superstore, Brooklyn Nine-Nine, and the entire Fox Sunday night lineup.
- The Untouchables airs all weekend on Decades.
- Antenna TV is giving mom the day off with a Mother's Day marathon of Hazel.
- getTV will celebrate All in the Family all week next week with a 30 episode marathon, with six episodes airing every night starting at 7 PM.
