Fox and CBS Order Mutli-Camera Sitcoms for 18-19; truTV Gets Comedy
Fox has ordered the multi-camera sitcom The Cool Kids to series for 2018-19 season. Vicki Lawrence stars as Margaret, Martin Mull as Charlie, David Alan Grier as Hank and Leslie Jordan as Sid.
CBS has also ordered two multi-camera sitcoms. First up is, an Untitled Ben Wilson Project about a young married couple whose evenings have become comfortable and routine; their lives are completely upended when a young musician moves into their spare bedroom and brings with him the complications of being an up-and-coming mega pop star - sometimes even the paparazzi. Amber Stevens West stars as Claire, Chris Parnell as Wayne, Damon Wayans, Jr. as Peter, and Felix Mallard as Cooper. And finally, CBS has ordered Welcome to the Neighborhood, about the nicest guy in the Midwest who moves his family into a tough neighborhood in L.A. where not everyone appreciates his extreme neighborliness. Cedric the Entertainer stars as Calvin, Dreama Walker as Gemma, Josh Lawson as Dave, Marcel Spears as Marty, Sheaun McKinney as Malcolm, and Tichina Arnold as Loretta.
truTV has ordered Tacoma FD (wt) with 10 scripted half-hour episodes ordered. On the heels of the breakout theatrical release of Super Troopers 2, co-creators and stars Kevin Heffernan and Steve Lemme will be donning new uniforms in Tacoma FD, a new half-hour comedy set in a firehouse in the wettest city in America. Light on blazes that need extinguishing, they are fire fighters who are always ready to fight fires... but in this wet city, they find themselves tackling the less glamorous elements of the job. Leading the fire house crew are Chief Terry McConky (Heffernan) and Captain Eddie Penisi (Lemme). The series, which will go into production later this year and will debut in 2019, is co-created and executive produced by Heffernan and Lemme alongside David Miner and Greg Walter from 3 Arts Entertainment and Kyle Clark from Silverscreen Pictures.
