2016 SITCOMS ON DVD PREVIEW
January 2016:
01/05 - Broad City - Season 2
Comedy Central/Paramount Home Media Distribution releases season two of Broad City.
Starring Abbi Jacobson and Ilana Glazer, Broad City is an odd couple comedy about two best friends navigating their twenties in New York City whose adventures always lead down unexpected and outlandish paths. They're broke, flawed, and don't shy away from the sticky situations NYC throws at them - they dive right into the muck.
But no matter how bad it gets, these young broads are always down with whatever hits. Want nude dance parties? Big guests like Ilana's mom and Seth Rogen? Pervy kittens? Shrimp in the water supply? Ok, maybe not that last one - but it's all there and more in the second, seriously hot (and humid) season of the acclaimed comedy series. Executive produced by Amy Poehler, this quirky comedy has taken the world by storm with its unique voice and hilarious premises.
Includes all 10 episodes from Season 2, uncensored with exclusive special features. Guest stars include Seth Rogen (Knocked Up, The Interview), Kumail Nanjiani (Silicon Valley), Susie Essman (Curb Your Enthusiasm), Alia Shawkat (Arrested Development), Amy Ryan (The Wire), Kelly Ripa (Live with Kelly and Michael), and Aidy Bryant (Saturday Night Live). 2-disc DVD with over 30 minutes of bonus features!

This time around the gang tackles their most hilarious challenges yet, like besting the legendary beer drinking record of baseball's Wade Boggs, and conquering the wacky world of online dating. Plus, Mac and Charlie join a cult, Psycho Pete returns from the loony bin and the gang struggles to keep their weirdness under wraps while competing on a TV game show.

01/05 - Man Seeking Woman - The Complete Season 1
Fox Home Entertainment releases the first season of the FXX series. The 2-disc set is manufactured on demand and is available available from online sellers such as Amazon's CreateSpace MOD program.

After his girlfriend Maggie (Maya Erskine) calls it quits, Josh (Baruchel) tries to move forward in romance, with help from his testosterone-fueled best bro (Eric Andre) and his confident sister (Britt Lower).
Still haunted by Maggie's memory, Josh grapples with not-so-cute meets, clubbing, time travel, bloody heartache and a whole lot of sex-crazed aliens. With its smart, envelope-pushing humor, imaginative fantasy sequences and spot-on cast, Man Seeking Woman is one of the freshest series ever to hit the small screen!
01/12 - Growing Pains - The Seventh Season (WBShop.com)
Warner Archive will release the seventh and final season of Growing Pains on January 12 according to TVShowsOnDVD.com.
The Seavers say sayonara in their seventh and final season in high style by welcoming a new member to the clan - played by Leonardo DiCaprio! As Mike (Kirk Cameron) prepares to attend teacher's college, Jason (Alan Thicke) suggests that he teach some remedial classes at the local community center. Uneasy goings for Mike turn around, in part thanks to his best and brightest student, Luke Brower (DiCaprio).
But Mike discovers that Luke has a secret: he has no family or home. And so, Luke soon finds himself at home with the Seavers, in Carol's (Tracey Gold) room. Too bad Mike forgot to tell Carol!
Meanwhile, Carol has a new old beau, Dwight (Christopher Burgard), Ben has a crush on Sasha Serotsky (Academy Award winner Hilary Swank), and Chrissy (Ashley Johnson) wants a pony. But big changes are in store, as Washington comes calling for Maggie (Joanna Kerns), and Luke's trucker dad (Gary Grubbs) makes a pit stop at the Seavers'.
01/12 - The Wonder Years - Season Four
For six Emmy Award-winning seasons, The Wonder Years on ABC captured the angst of growing up in suburban middle-class America in the late '60s, as seen through the life and times of Kevin Arnold (Fred Savage). Audiences eagerly followed his evolution as a typical awkward teenager who remembered every moment of his transition from childhood with excruciating detail and remarkable hindsight.
In Season 4, things are changing for Kevin as he enters his last year at Kennedy Junior High. He should have it all figured out, but things don't go as smoothly as he had hoped: though he and Winnie (Danica McKellar) are in love and starting ninth grade...they're at different schools. Arnold family life is changing, too, with Norma (Alley Mills) taking a new job at Kevin's school, Jack (Dan Lauria) getting a promotion, Wayne (Jason Hervey) buying a car and Karen (Oliva d'Abo) starting college. Kevin gets his first job caddying, is guilted into taking Paul's little sister to cotillion, and tries to crash a tenth-grader's slumber party (with beer). He also finds Coach Cutlip (Robert Picardo) moonlighting as the mall Santa after subjecting the gym class to Death Ball and the President's All-American Physical Fitness Challenge. But the biggest surprise might be from Paul (Josh Saviano), who announces that he'll be going to prep school in the fall. It's a roller coaster ride, but the gang makes it to graduation and kisses Kennedy Junior High goodbye.
THE WONDER YEARS: THE COMPLETE FOURTH SEASON contains all 23 poignant and nostalgia-inducing episodes from Season 4, in their original broadcast versions across 4 loaded discs. And, alongside the specially-produced bonus features, including in-depth interviews and a behind-the-scenes featurette, the collector's set includes over three dozen songs as they were featured in the original broadcast, with classics by Joan Baez, The Beach Boys, The Byrds, Nat King Cole, Judy Collins, Lee Dorsey, Bob Dylan, Aretha Franklin, Marvin Gaye, Jimi Hendrix, The Monkees, Randy Newman, Smokey Robinson & the Miracles, Sam & Dave, Bob Seger, Edwin Starr, The Ventures, The Who, Hank Williams, and many more, plus Joe Cocker's unforgettable rendition of The Beatle's With a Little Help from My Friends.

01/19 - Sister, Sister - The Complete Collection
VEI (Visual Entertainment, Inc.) releases all 6 seasons and 119 episodes of the 1994-1999 sitcom, which starred Tia Mowry, Tamera Mowry, Jackée Harry and Tim Reid. CBS DVD previously released the first two seasons in 2008 and 2009.
The set is available to order now from Amazon's store in Canada. It should be available at some point from third party sellers in the US store.
A comedy series that sparks some drama along with some very unique family issues, this is the story of twin sisters who were separated at birth, then by chance meet many years later in a shopping mall. While trying to relate to each other's new presence in their lives, they get into loads of trouble when even their families and friends can't tell them apart. A great, funny, coming of age series with Image and Emmy Award nominations and wins.

Edna’s sister Beverly Ann (Academy Award winner Cloris Leachman) steps in to keep an eye on them, but as the year passes and graduation from Langley College looms for Blair and Jo, it appears that the winds of change that haven’t finished blowing just yet.

2016 Wish List:
This is my wish list for 2016. Some of them probably have slim to no chance of ever being available, but I still have hope for them someday. None of these titles have been officially announced.
According to Jim - Seasons 3-5 were released in 2011. Could we see the final 3 seasons finally released in 2016?
The Adventures of Ozzie and Harriet - A fundraising project by Sam Nelson to get the show restored and complete on DVD raised over $32,000. Updates are on their Kickstarter campaign page for backers only. The restoration process has continued apparently.
Alice - The third and fourth seasons were released in 2013, but there have been no releases since then.
Archie Bunker's Place - Mill Creek re-released Season One, but we're still waiting for the complete series to be released (Shout! Factory are you listening?). Sadly we lost 3 cast members in 2015.
Baby Daddy - This series is still not out on DVD. It's very popular on ABC Family/Freeform. Hopefully we get its first season in 2016.
Benson - Seasons One & Two were re-released in 2014, but no further seasons have been released.
The Beverly Hillbillies - Seasons 5-9 are still needed.
Blossom - I'm surprised that it hasn't been available as a Shout! Factory Select title like Mr. Belvedere. Seasons 1-2 were released way back in January 2009. Mill Creek released a "best of" set in October 2010.
Brooklyn Bridge - There were rumors of a release in 2010 by the show's creator Gary David Goldberg, but it never materialized.
California Dreams - Only Season 5 remains to be released.
Checking In - One episode was included on Shout! Factory's release of The Jeffersons - The Complete Series. The original press release stated that all four episodes of the Marla Gibbs' spin-off would be included, so hopefully we see them available someday. Chico and the Man - Only 6 episodes have been released on DVD.
Coach - Season 4 was released in March 2011. Maybe we will see another season of this underrated sitcom this year.
Dave's World - Only Season 4 is left to complete the series.
Diff'rent Strokes - Shout! Factory released The Facts of Life - The Complete Series in 2015. It would not be surprising to see the parent series as one of their next complete series boxed sets. Let's hope we see it sometime in 2016!
8 Simple Rules - We're still waiting for the third and final season.
Fish - Shout! Factory included the first season in the Barney Miller - The Complete Series release. It would be great to see the second season as well.
Green Acres - How great would a complete series boxed set be? Green Acres is the place to be!
Happy Days - Seasons 5 and 6 were released in 2014, but we had no releases in 2015.
Head of the Class - It hasn't been seen in syndication for years. It would be nice to see again.
Hello, Larry - It could be included with a complete series boxed set of Diff'rent Strokes. RIP Meadowlark Lemon.
The Hogan Family - Music clearance issues seem to be the reason for no DVD releases at this point.
Hope & Faith - Season 1 was released way back in 2009, but we're still waiting on Seasons 2-3.
I'm Dickens...He's Fenster - We're still waiting for the second volume of this lost gem. RIP Marty Ingels.
It's Your Move - It would make an ideal 3-disc set from Shout! Factory. A cult classic that would be a popular release.
Less Than Perfect - Season 1 was released in September 2010. Hopefully this underrated series will have more seasons available at some point.
Mad About You - Mill Creek is expected to release the complete series in the spring 2016. The question will be if they will release seasons 6 and 7 individually.
Melissa & Joey - Only the first season of the popular ABC Family/Freeform sitcom is available on DVD. They ended a successful 4-year run in August.
Mr. Belvedere - Season Four was re-released as a retail release in 2015, but we're still waiting for the final two seasons.
My Three Sons - Only Seasons 1-2 have been released. Unfortunately, many CBS DVD/Paramount series have been stalled for years.
My Two Dads - Only the third season remains to be released to complete the series.
My Wife and Kids - Only Seasons 1-2 have been released.
One Day at a Time - Only the first season was released way back in 2007. It would be ideal for a complete series boxed set. At least Antenna TV has brought back the series.
Out of This World - Volume 1 was released in Germany in November 2011. Will we see a U.S. release at some point?
Parker Lewis Can't Lose - Seasons 1 and 2 have been released. We're just waiting on the third season to complete the series. RIP Mary Ellen Trainor.
Perfect Strangers - We're still waiting for the third season. We desperately need more Balki!
Petticoat Junction - Seasons 4-7 are still neeeded. RIP Pat Woodell.
Please Don't Eat the Daisies - As we reported in October 2012, Warner Archive hopes to bring it to DVD once some music issues are cleared and the episodes are remastered.
Rhoda - Season Five has yet to be released to complete series.
The Ropers - The Three's Company spin-off has never been released on DVD.
Silver Spoons - It would make a nice complete series boxed set from Shout! Factory.
Small Wonder - Seasons 1-2 have been released. Seasons 3-4 are still needed to complete the series.
Three's a Crowd - A one-year wonder which would be nice to see on DVD.
Webster - Only the fifth and sixth seasons are left to complete the series. Antenna TV aired an episode in December. Could it join their regular lineup at some point?
What's Happening Now!! - Only the first season was released in 2007.
Who's the Boss?) - It remains popular in syndication, but only the first season was released way back in 2004.
