The event was taped at The Barker Hangar in Santa Monica, CA.

The show started with host Vanessa Williams singing the much-loved song from Peter Pan entitled "I'm Flying," with classic TV stars Barry Williams (Brady Bunch), Bernie Kopell (The Love Boat), Gary Coleman (Diff'rent Strokes), Jerry Mathers (Leave it to Beaver), Jimmie "JJ" Walker (Good Times), Dawn Wells (Gilligan's Island), Alison Arngrim (Little House on the Prairie), Ron Palilo (Welcome Back, Kotter) and William Katt (The Greatest American Hero) flying above the crowd as their beloved characters.
Comedian Kathy Griffin presented the annual much-anticipated TV Land parody entitled "Paparazzi" in which some of television's favorite TV stars spoofed an array of popular entertainment news shows. Penny Marshall & Cindy Williams (Laverne & Shirley), Florence Henderson & Maureen McCormick (Brady Bunch), Joan Rivers, Joyce DeWitt (Three's Company), Lindsay Wagner (Bionic Woman), Phyllis Diller, Sherman Hemsley (The Jeffersons, Amen) and Vicki Lawrence (The Carol Burnett Show, Mama's Family) star.
