Mini-DVD Review: The Dick Tracy Show (Sept. 26)
The Dick Tracy Show: The Complete Animated Series (Classic Media, $39.98) brings you every single episode of the classic '60s animated series. This set is available on a four-disc set that contains all 130 original cartoon episodes. Each episode runs around 5 minutes. I remember watching this animated series on WNYW here in NY weekday afternoons when the feature film came out in 1990 and I just loved it. My favorite villain was Pruneface. The other villains were BB Eyes, Flattop, The Mole, The Brow, Mumbles, and so many more. And of course there were the good guys, Dick Tracy, Joe Jitsu, GoGo Gomez, Hemlock Holmes, and the Retouchables. I loved it when that dog used that towel to clean his self...I found that hilarious back when I was watching the show on WNYW. The show originally aired in 1961 on WPIX. Packaging has a nice case (no box) that when you open it you will see two sides for two discs on each side. It has a nice yellow touch and the discs have cool fingerprints in different colors for each disc, along with a character. Episodes 1-32 are on disc one, episodes 33-65 on disc two, episodes 66-97 on disc three, and episodes 98-130 on disc four. The set has no special features, but having these episodes in original form is more than enough! The menu screen is very simple and easy to navigate. And the video and audio is very good for a series this old. I really suggest you to go out and buy this because this show is so good. I loved it back in 1990 and love it now, too. So, calling all cars, The Dick Tracy Show DVD from Classic Media is a must buy and make sure you have on your two-way wrist radio watches when watching this DVD!
