No Denver Tribute on TV Land; TV Land Updates
Sticking with TV Land, they released two pieces of information today. First, they will have PSA's airing during commercial breaks with classic TV stars encouraging to help the victims of Hurricane Katrina. Carol Burnett (The Carol Burnett Show), Bill Cosby (The Cosby Show), Tony Danza (Who's the Boss?), Florence Henderson (The Brady Bunch), Alyssa Milano (Who's the Boss?), Mary Tyler Moore (The Mary Tyler Moore Show), Rob Reiner (All in the Family), Dick Van Dyke (The Dick Van Dyke Show) and Henry Winkler (Happy Days) are among the actors who will express their support for the victims of the catastrophic Hurricane Katrina by appealing to television viewers to contribute to relief efforts. Beginning next week, TV Land and Nick@Nite will air the public service announcement featuring these Classic TV icons and their message designed to encourage viewers to support in the relief efforts. The 30-second spot will air in heavy rotation on both networks and be made available to all media outlets. The PSA will direct viewers to the American Red Cross website (www.redcross.org) and toll free phone number 1-800-HELP-NOW (1-800-435-7669) to make contributions to the cause. Gil Cope, whose credits include filming over 500 commercials for Levis, Coke, Honda and Mercedes among others, will direct the PSA.
TV Land is working on a pilot with Paul Reiser titled I Did Not Know That--one-hour sendup of "Biography" style shows to be hosted by Harry Shearer according to Variety. Reiser is producing the pilot. The pilot will feature a series of segments billed as "fake stories about real celebrities" and "fake bios of made-up people." Production begins next week in Los Angeles. If the show's picked up, TV Land execs are targeting a launch early next year. It is not a guarantee to make it on the air.
Up next on the TV Land original docket is One Night Only With David Steinberg, a six-part talker in which the Emmy-winning comedy writer chats with classic and contempo comedians who got their start on television, premieres in December.
