SitcomsOnline Digest: Chuck Lorre Working on New CBS Sitcom Starring Billy Gardell; TV Adaptation of Heathers to Finally Air

Welcome to SitcomsOnline Digest! Now that the fall season has sort of set in (aside from The CW, which is just getting started this week), we're into a pattern of normalcy before the new shows start getting cancelled and midseason replacements pop up. But just because it's a new season doesn't mean networks aren't already looking toward next season, and CBS is doing just that. Plus, we have some news about the TV adaptation of Heathers, which will finally see the light of day following countless delays. Let's get going!

HIGHLIGHTS FROM SITCOMSONLINE.COM AND AROUND THE WEB
  • Chuck Lorre and CBS is a pair that just will seemingly never part, and this week, we learned that another Chuck Lorre sitcom on CBS starring Billy Gardell may be in the works. (Entertainment Weekly)
  • In what has perhaps been the longest running effort to get a movie developed into a TV series and constantly shelved due to production company changes, network changes, and even school shootings, it seems that the TV adaptation of Heathers will finally have a chance to air on Paramount Network later this month. (Hollywood Reporter)
  • The Conners has added Justin Long to the cast as a love interest for Darlene. (TheWrap)
  • Not a lot of people may have noticed, but Conan O'Brien quietly said goodbye to his hourlong talk show this week, a format that he has worked in for 25 years, for a whole new half hour format that will debut in January. (Hollywood Reporter)
  • Speaking of Conan O'Brien, a project is in the works to get all 25 years of his shows online for anybody to stream before he returns in January, and the very first episode of Late Night with Conan O'Brien from 1993 is already up for everybody to see. (Vulture)
  • Antenna TV will be celebrating Halloween with their two witch sitcoms, naturally. (SitcomsOnline)
