• Seth Meyers is developing The Game Room, a new workplace comedy for NBC. (Deadline)
• Are we getting a Glee reboot? A script has been written and apparently the original cast is on board. (Entertainment Weekly)
• Despite being a hit, Prime Video has decided to not renew Ride or Die for a second season, but Paramount is not giving up and shopping it to other outlets (perhaps Paramount+?). (Deadline)
• There is still some uncertainty on what is going to happen with the Warner Bros. and Paramount merger, but it's entirely possible that it could be a done deal in the next few weeks, or even days, and it could also involve Comedy Central and BET being sold to another entity. (Variety)
• If you're looking for Ken Jenkins to return to Scrubs in his role as Dr. Kelso, even just for one episode, don't get your hopes up too high. (Deadline)
• For many who watch The Price is Right and remembers how elaborate the series used to be, particularly as it climbed in popularity throughout the Bob Barker years, the cheapening of the show has been evident and recent years, and for the newest season the budget cuts are impossible to ignore. Welcome to SitcomsOnline Digest! This is a very busy week, and we've got about twice as much news as usual, including news about reboots of some Fox animated series (but on Hulu), second season renewals of two recent reboots (or whatever the proper title is for them), and more. Let's get going!

• It's the news everybody has been excited about this week: King of the Hill is coming back! But there are some issues that fans are wondering about how they will be addressed, such as what will happen with Luanne and Lucky (voiced by Brittany Murphy and Tom Petty, both of whom have died since the series ended), as well as how will the character of Khan (an Asian American voiced by a white man) be handled. • Meanwhile, Lauren Tom (who just so happens to do voices on King of the Hill as well) has announced a timeline for the return of Futurama. (Game Rant)
• CBS has ordered a Matlock reboot pilot starring Kathy Bates. (AV Club)
• A huge shift in daytime TV is coming, as Dr. Phil will be coming to an end in just a few months. (Deadline)
• That '90s Show is getting a second season on Netflix. (Variety)
• There is a spoof of Seinfeld that can go on forever, thanks to AI. (TechCrunch)
• The Blacklist is coming to an end after 10 seasons at NBC. (Variety)
• Cindy Williams, best known as Shirley in Laverne & Shirley, has died at age 75. (Entertainment Weekly)
• Lisa Loring, who played the original Wednesday Addams in The Addams Family, has also died. (Variety)
• It isn't surprising given the initial success that it has had (we'll see if that holds), but Night Court is coming back for a second season. (SitcomsOnline)

Wednesday Is Netflix's Top Hit of the Year; CBS Renews Fire Country

It's two snaps for Wednesday, as Netflix confirms the record-breaking smash hit will return for a second season, only on Netflix. Season two details and additional information will be shared at a later time. Wednesday, which is produced by MGM Television, continues to have a resounding cultural impact across entertainment, the internet, music, fashion and beauty. Since the series debuted in November 2022, Wednesday is now one of the most successful series ever on Netflix. It ranks #2 on the Most Popular (English) TV list with 1.237 Billion hours viewed within its first 28 days. On TikTok, #WednesdayAddams has amassed over 22 Billion views, as Wednesday's iconic dance scene has gone massively viral across global social media. Fan generated content utilizing "Bloody Mary" by Lady Gaga led to a streaming increase of more than 1,800% of the song on Spotify compared to the month prior the series release. Even Lady Gaga joined in on the fun.

The series is a sleuthing, supernaturally infused mystery charting Wednesday Addams' years as a student at Nevermore Academy, where she attempts to master her emerging psychic ability, thwart a monstrous killing spree that has terrorized the local town, and solve the murder mystery that embroiled her parents 25 years ago - all while navigating her new and very tangled relationships at Nevermore. CBS announced that it has renewed the broadcast and streaming hit Fire Country for the 2023-2024 season. Fire Country stars Max Thieriot (SEAL Team) as Bode Donovan, a young convict seeking redemption and a shortened prison sentence by joining a prison release firefighting program in Northern California, where he and other inmates are partnered with elite firefighters to extinguish massive, unpredictable wildfires across the region. It's a high-risk, high-reward assignment, and the heat is turned up when Bode is assigned to the program in his rural hometown, where he was once a golden all-American son - until his troubles began. Five years ago, Bode burned down everything in his life, leaving town with a big secret. Now he's back, with the rap sheet of a criminal and the audacity to believe in a chance for redemption with Cal Fire.

The new series has also been in high demand with international buyers and is currently distributed in nearly 100 countries around the world by Paramount Global Content Distribution. Fire Country also stars Billy Burke, Kevin Alejandro, Diane Farr, Stephanie Arcila, Jordan Calloway and Jules Latimer. Tony Phelan, Joan Rater, Tia Napolitano, Max Thieriot, Jerry Bruckheimer and KristieAnne Reed are executive producers. The series is produced by CBS Studios.
