Pop Orders Scripted Comedy with Joey McIntyre; IFC's New Comedy Launching in November
Joey McIntyre plays a devoted husband, a loving father of three, and at 43, he's still the youngest member of New Kids on the Block (NKOTB), but what he really wants is to be taken seriously as an actor. Such is the premise of a new scripted television comedy series on Pop, The Joey Mac Project (working title), which heads into production this fall. Pop's new original series is inspired by Joey's real life, as the grown-up boy band member and actor who seeks his next showbiz gig after NKOTB's latest sold out tour. Pop has ordered eight episodes of the 30-minute comedy, which is executive produced by McIntyre himself along with music and television star Donnie Wahlberg, TV and radio personality Jenny McCarthy, and buzz-making television producers Tim Gibbons (Curb Your Enthusiasm), Paul Greenberg (Best Time Ever with Neil Patrick Harris) and Jenny Daly (Storage Hunters, Hollywood and Football).
IFC announced that new horror-comedy Stan Against Evil will premiere with two back-to-back episodes Wednesday, November 2 at 10PM and 10:30PM. Additionally, in the spirit of spooks and frights, a special airing of the premiere episode will haunt viewers Halloween night, October 31 at 10PM on IFC. Starring John C. McGinley (Scrubs) and Janet Varney (You're the Worst), Stan Against Evil will air the remainder of its 8-episode first season Wednesdays at 10PM throughout the fall.
Stan Against Evil follows Stan Miller (McGinley), a perpetually disgruntled former sheriff of a small New England town who was forced into retirement. Stan has trouble relinquishing his authority to Evie Barret (Varney), the tough and beautiful new sheriff in town, but they form an unlikely alliance when both begin to realize things are not quite right in their quaint New England town. Together, they valiantly fight a plague of unleashed demons that have been haunting the town, which just happens to be built on the site of a massive 17th century witch burning.
