Building Belushi with Jim Belushi Premieres July 11; Donald Glover FX Pilot Underway
Get ready According to Jim fans, we have a premiere date for Jim Belushi's new project that we told you about! Performer, actor, comedian and musician Jim Belushi is coming to DIY Network in Building Belushi. The six-episode series, which premieres on Saturday, July 11, at 10 p.m. ET/PT, follows Jim and his team of experts as they build a riverfront retreat cabin outside of Medford in Southern Oregon. For Jim, it's been a busy three decades, with starring roles in films, television, and on Broadway, and of course on the long-running television sitcom According to Jim. He also tours the country with his improv comedy troupe The Board of Comedy, The Sacred Hearts Band and alongside Dan Ackroyd as The Blues Brothers. Belushi says he is now looking forward to unwinding on the river with friends and family. Jim, a home-renovation enthusiast, is ready for this challenge on the Rogue River. After purchasing 13 acres of a former 1930s Elks picnic ground, Jim and his team begin the process of constructing his own retreat cabin. In each episode, Jim seeks to craft his vision to fit with the powerful and spiritual Rogue River and its surrounding natural landscape. Yet, he has to manage the often unpredictable realities and set-backs of home building and renovation.
The FX Networks Donald Glover (Community) comedy pilot Atlanta (which we first told you about in 2014) has cast its lead actors as production gets underway this month. Brian Tyree Henry, Lakeith Lee Stanfield and Zazie Beetz will star in the pilot along with Glover, who created and wrote the pilot. Hiro Murai will direct the pilot, which will be produced by FX Productions and begin shooting in Atlanta at the end of July. Atlanta revolves around two cousins on their way up through the Atlanta rap scene whose opposing views on art versus commerce, success and race will make their quest anything but easy. Donald Glover will play a loner who left Atlanta only to return; now working an unglamorous job and barely getting by. When his cousin Alfred becomes Atlanta's hot rapper, Earn sees an opportunity to manage Alfred's career. Brian Tyree Henry (Vice Principals) will play Atlanta's hot of the moment rapper who plans to capitalize on the sudden fame as quickly as possible. Lakeith Lee Stanfield (Short Term 12) will play Alfred's oddly talented right-hand man and musical collaborator. Zazie Beetz (the upcoming Finding Her) will play a pragmatist caught up in a complicated relationship with Earn (Donald Glover) due to their daughter.
