SitcomsOnline Digest: Emmy Nominations Announced; New Carol Burnett Show DVDs

Welcome to SitcomsOnline Digest! It's been a slow news week, but we got Emmy nominees this week, we have some new programming coming to Cozi, and Time-Life announced their huge Carol Burnett Show release that will be coming out very soon. Let's get going!

HIGHLIGHTS FROM SITCOMSONLINE.COM AND AROUND THE WEB

Emmy nominations were announced this week, and we've got the lists for all of the major award nominees. (SitcomsOnline)
Deadline also breaks down the number of Emmy nominations by series, where Game of Thrones clearly got the most nominations. (Deadline)
With the Miss USA Pageant airing on Reelz instead of a major network, it had the smallest audience ever, although the small audience was a huge deal for Reelz. (Deadline)
We've entered an era where every week (it seems), something else gets canned due to some sort of controversy, and this week, it is TLC's reality series 19 Kids and Counting. (CNN Money)
It was only a matter of time before Cozi added Simon & Simon to the lineup (given that they air many of the other big action series from the Universal library), and that time will come in August. Baywatch will also join the lineup. (SitcomsOnline)

HOME MEDIA HIGHLIGHTS

Time-Life has announced their next release for The Carol Burnett Show, which will be The Carol Burnett Show - The Lost Episodes, and it is going to be another huge set, with 22 discs covering the first five seasons of the series.
San Diego Comic Con was last week, and Shout! announced the release of some very rare (and short-lived) 80s series, including Manimal and Automan.

Claim to Fame: Elizabeth Berkley got her start in guest roles on many NBC sitcoms, including Gimme a Break!, Silver Spoons, and Day by Day, and in 1989, she tried out for the role of Kelly on Saved by the Bell. She didn't get that role, but she was "so excited" to get the role of Jesse Spano, which was created specifically for her. When that series ended, she decided to go adult in a very adult role in the movie Showgirls, and as it turns out, it was a horrible move for her as the movie was a huge disaster (though it did earn a significant place in pop culture, mostly since she was in it). Since then, she has decided to do more family friendly (or at least PG-13 at the worst) roles, including guest roles on Melissa & Joey, CSI: Miami, and other series. Additionally, she is also a teenage girl self-esteem builder these days.

Trevor lands himself in trouble when an inappropriate gift to a co‑worker forces him into an HR meeting only Jay can handle. Meanwhile, Pete unintentionally sparks drama with Alberta after casually mentioning a surprise visit to his ex.

Animal Control - "Scaredy Cats and Card Sharks" (Fox, 9:02PM ET/PT)
When Frank and Daisy lose $5,000 in union funds, they try to win the money back by gambling; Shred and Patel cover the late-night shift at the precinct.

After throwing out his back, the Colonel is ordered to bed rest; the base is sent to sweep for landmines at a local farm, where Major Shah suddenly finds himself in serious danger when he steps on one.
