TCA Winter 2013 Press Tour: Fox; Additions to Our Sitcom Actors Tribute
Fox is up at the TCA Winter 2013 Press Tour today and we have the full scoop! First up, they will have a panel with the cast and crew of upcoming mid-season drama The Following, which premieres Monday, January 21, 2013 at 9pm for fifteen episodes. The series is a psychological thriller created by Kevin Williamson and starring Golden Globe Award-winning actor Kevin Bacon (Frost/Nixon) and James Purefoy (Rome). The intense, spellbinding drama follows Ryan Hardy (Bacon), an ex-FBI agent called out of retirement to track down Joe Carroll (Purefoy), a devious and diabolical serial killer, and the mastermind behind an ever-growing web of killers. Natalie Zea also stars. Then there will be a panel with the producers, judges and the host of American Idol, which returns Wednesday, Jan. 16 airing Wednesdays and Thursdays once again. Yet again we have new judges and they are Mariah Carey, Nicki Minaj, and Keith Urban, joining Randy Jackson. Ryan Seacrest hosts.
The main place we we actually get some news is always at the executive session and we will get that from Kevin Reilly (Chairman of Entertainment, Fox Broadcasting Company). Among the news items we got were that Bones was renewed for a ninth season. Also, new sitcom The Goodwin Games still doesn't have a premiere date and Fox doesn't want to mess up the Tuesday comedy block yet so they might wait until as late as the summer to premiere this new comedy. The revival of In Living Color as specials has officially been nixed and will not be moving forward. Then it is time for lunch before the afternoon panel with Tuesday night comedy shows. On this panel will be Lucas Neff and Shannon Woodward of Raising Hope; Echo Kellum and Nat Faxon of Ben & Kate; Zooey Deschanel and Jake Johnson of New Girl; and Mindy Kaling, Chris Messinam and Ike Barinholtz of The Mindy Project. And finally, Fox is launching a new Saturday night late night block called "Animation Domination High Definition" on July 27 from 11pm-12:30am and they will have a panel for it. As you know, the new unit will develop and produce an ambitiousslate of original animated shorts and series to run on air in its brand-newlate-prime animated programming block and across its new digital multi-platformnetwork. After that session, it is time for the all-star party!
Up tomorrow at the TCA Winter 2013 press tour will be cable network FX. Stay tuned for any updates, if anything is of note for us. And Thursday we will have ABC up at the TCA Winter 2013 press tour, as they will be doing a two-day event with ABC Family.
