Week 13 (Dec. 17-23) Analysis: Repeats and holiday specials rule so far this week, but finales for X Factor and The Voice were also held. We now have ratings in two decimal points as of Dec. 17, so we can further see how shows do. We hope to bring this to you every week! Through the final first four night averages CBS has the lead in HH/total viewers, but NBC is on top in adults 18-49. CBS has to settle for second place in 18-49, with Fox and ABC behind in HH/viewers and 18-49. When the week is done, NBC should hang on and take the week in 18-49 with the NFL sealing them the win tonight. More on that later. As for last week, week 12, CBS took home first in adults 18-49, eight tenths higher than second place NBC. Fox and ABC were well back. Among total viewers, CBS took that crown as well, while NBC was again second. ABC was third and Fox was back in fourth.

Monday had CBS sneak by NBC for first in adults 18-49 and total viewers, as NBC had part one of the The Voice finale. But starting with ABC, Extreme Makeover: Home Edition - Holidays is airing 8-10pm this December and the 8pm hour did 4.19 million but just a 1.02 18-49 rating, down a tenth in 18-49 from previous week, though. Part two followed at 9 with 4.69 million and a 1.18 18-49 rating, on par in 18-49 with previous week. A repeat of Castle followed at 10pm and did 5.16 million and a 1.06 18-49 rating, also on par with previous week's 18-49 rating.  For NBC, they had part one of the The Voice finale for 90-minutes doing 13.37 million and a night best 4.16 18-49 rating, up about four tenths in 18-49 from previous week when it was one-hour. At 9:30pm, a sneak peek of the new comedy 1600 Penn disappointed with 6.88 million and a 2.19 18-49 rating. At 10pm, the finale of game show Take It All didn't do great with 4.53 million and a 1.49 18-49 rating, down about seven tenths in 18-49 from previous week's [premiere when it aired at 9pm. CBS won the night with new episodes, as a one-hour all-new How I Met Your Mother did 8.7 million and a 3.4 18-49 rating, up two tenths in 18-49 from the previous week when it was a half-hour.  A new 2 Broke Girls followed with 10.22 million and a 3.51 18-49 rating, which is down about two tenths in 18-49 from previous week. Next, a new Mike & Molly did 10.79 million and a 3.33 18-49 rating, which is down about five tenths in 18-49 from  previous week's new 2 Broke Girls in the time period. A new Hawaii Five-0 at 10pm did 10.54 million and a 2.43 18-49, down about a tenth in 18-49 week-to-week. Fox preempted Bones and dud The Mob Doctor for specials, as at 8pm the special Dreamworks Dragons: Gift of the Night Fury did 3.89 million and a 1.5 18-49 rating. At 8:30pm the repeat special Ice Age: Mammoth Christmas followed with 3.95 million and a 1.47 18-49 rating. And at 9pm, Happiness is a Warm Blanket Charlie Brown delivered 2.63 million and a 0.9 18-49 rating. The CW preempted 90210 at 8 for a Gossip Girl finale event. A special aired at 8pm doing 1.28 million and a 0.62 18-49 rating. And at 9pm the series finale did 1.55 million and a 0.81 18-49 rating, which is clearly a season high but still could be better for a send-off. 

On Tuesday, it was NBC with the win in 18-49, but CBS still took home the total viewer crown. A new NCIS aired at 8 and did 19.59 million and a 3.34 18-49 rating, which is about five tenths higher in 18-49 from previous week. Next a new NCIS: Los Angeles at 9 did 15.48 million and a 2.95 18-49 rating, which is about four tenths higher in 18-49 from previous week. And finally at 10pm, a new episode of freshman Vegas did 9.82 million and only a 1.59 18-49 rating, but it was up about a tenth in 18-49 from previous week. Onto ABC, at 8pm a second airing of the annual holiday special A Charlie Brown Christmas did a solid 5.83 million and a 1.72 18-49 rating, on par with previous week's Santa Claus Is Comin' To Town. At 9pm a new Happy Endings did 3.16 million and a 1.32 18-49 rating, up like a tenth in 18-49 from from previous week. Wish it was doing a 1.5+ at least. At 9:30pm a new Don't Trust the B---- in Apartment 23 did only 2.53 million and a 1.07 18-49 rating, up about a tenth in 18-49 from previous week. Not getting any promos anymore, but its lead-in is. At 10, Private Practice did 3.84 million and a 1.17 18-49 rating, up like two tenths in 18-49 from previous week. Just three more episodes left for this series in January. NBC started off with a special encore of The Voice doing 8.09 million and a 2.39 18-49 rating. Then from 9-11pm the season finale did 14.13 million and a 4.89 18-49 rating, which is over a point higher in 18-49 than previous week's airing at 8pm. New comedies Go On and The New Normal were preempted as was drama Parenthood at 10pm. Fox had repeats of its comedies with Raising Hope at 8pm doing 2.48 million and a 0.98 18-49 rating, which is the best for this block actually. A repeat (yikes) of Ben and Kate followed with only 1.8 million and a 0.76 18-49 rating, about on par with previous week's repeat in 18-49. A repeat of New Girl was up next with 1.72 million and a 0.77 18-49 rating, as this show repeats badly for an anchor. And finally a repeat of The Mindy Project did just 1.45 million and a 0.62 18-49 rating. The CW preempted Hart of Dixie and new series Emily Owens MD for the holiday movie It's a Very Muppet Christmas doing 1.37 million and a 0.48 18-49 rating, about a tenth higher in 18-49 with previous week's Muppets special.

Wednesday had Fox win in 18-49 in a very slow night filled with repeats. First, CBS started the night off with the annual special Home for the Holidays at 4.91 million and just a 0.85 18-49 rating. Veteran drama Criminal Minds followed at 9 with a repeat doing 6.39 million and a 1.37 18-49 rating. At 10, a repeat of CSI did 5.82 million and a 1.11 18-49 rating. ABC kicked off the night with a repeat of The Middle doing 5.02 million and a 1.29 18-49 rating. At 8:30pm a repeat of The Neighbors did 3.87 million and a 1.05 18-49 rating. At 9pm, a repeat of Modern Family did the best of the block with 5.7 million and a 1.79 18-49 rating, which is decent for a repeat.  Suburgatory and Nashville were preempted for the special 20/20: The Year with Katie Couric and did 5.43 million and a 1.58 18-49 rating from 9:30-11pm. On Fox, part one of the two-hour The X Factor finale did 8.35 million and a 2.75 18-49 rating, up about a tenth in 18-49 from previous week and still good enough to win on this slow night. Onto NBC, Whitney, Guys with Kids and Law & Order: SVU were preempted for the annual Miss Universe Pageant and it did 6.08 million and a 1.81 18-49 rating, which is OK. At 10pm, a new Chicago Fire did 6.75 million and a 1.92 18-49 rating, back up about five tenths in 18-49 from previous week's series low. What an up and down series this is. The CW aired preempted new hit Arrow and Supernatural for the movie Noel and did 1.61 million and a 0.33 18-49 rating, which is OK but older skewing for this network.

On Thursday, Fox took the night in both 18-49 and total viewers as the other networks were in repeat mode. Starting with ABC, the special I Want A Dog for Christmas Charlie Brown did 5.01 million and a 1.40 18-49 rating, up four tenths in 18-49 from previous week's Last Resort, ouch. From 9-11pm, Grey's Anatomy and the surging Scandal were preempted for the new CMA Christmas special doing 7.21 million and a 1.44 18-49 rating, skewing old. CBS had a night of repeats. They opened with a repeat of The Big Bang Theory doing 10.95 million and a 2.86 18-49 rating, which is amazing for a repeat, especially in mid-December. A repeat of Two and a Half Men was up next with 8.67 million and a 2.29 18-49 rating, also solid and helped by its lead-in of course. At 9pm, a repeat of Person of Interest followed with 9.4 million and a 1.67 18-49 rating, which is still old skewing. At 10pm, a repeat of freshman Elementary closed the night with 6.78 million and a 1.34 18-49 rating. Fox had the two-hour finale of The X Factor doing 9.66 million and a 3.06 18-49 rating, which is about seven tenths better in 18-49 from previous week when it was one-hour. Way down from last season's finale, though. Glee was preempted. NBC preempted 30 Rock and Up All Night at 8pm for the new special A White House Christmas: First Families Remember doing 8.29 million and a 1.56 18-49 rating, which is good but also old skewing. At 9, The Office had a repeat that did 2.86 million and a 1.0 18-49 rating, followed by a repeat of Parks & Recreation doing 2.01 million and a 0.8 18-49 rating. Still awful. And it got worse at 10pm with a new Rock Center with Brian Williams doing just 3.5 million and a 0.83 18-49 rating, down about a tenth in 18-49 from previous week. The CW's big gun Vampire Diaries was a repeat and did 990,000 viewers  and a 0.33 18-49 rating. New series Beauty and the Beast also was a repeat and did 840,000 viewers and a 0.31 18-49 rating, at least holding on to a lot of its lead-in's ratings.

Now, final numbers for Friday and Saturday are not available, but ABC and Fox were tied for first in 18-49. A repeat of Last Man Standing was second in its half hour with adults 18-49 at 8pm on ABC and Malibu Country was as well, but NBC took the hour in 18-49 with an encore of Blake Shelton's Not So Family Christmas. ABC was back in first at 9pm, but Shark Tank was preempted for the special Back to the Beginning from 9-11pm. At 10pm, ABC's special continued and beat Dateline as ABC preempted 20/20. Fringe was new for Fox and struggled.
Saturday also had ABC and Fox tie in 18-49. ABC was led by the encore of CMA Christmas from 9-11pm, while Fox was highlighted by Cops. CBS struggled with Made in Jersey burn-off episodes and 48 Hours. NBC really did poorly with Mr. Magoo's Christmas Carol and WWE Tribute to the Troops.
