January 2010:
01/12 - 10 Things I Hate About You - Volume One
Sisters Bianca (Meaghan Martin) and Kat (Lindsey Shaw) are two very different people. At their new high school, it's clear that one sister wants to stand out and the other just wants to fit in. Kat is a strong-willed feminist, looking to save the world and get out of school as fast as she can. But when she meets the intense Patrick Verona (Ethan Peck), sparks begin to fly. Bianca is a social butterfly whose main goal in life is to be popular, but when the head cheerleader makes her the mascot, she realizes she has a long way to go. As they start a bumpy year at Padua High, will Kat and Bianca be able to navigate the challenges of the popular crowd, guys AND their over-protective dad (Larry Miller)? The two-disc set will contain 10 episodes plus audio commentaries, bloopers, a "Backstage Pass" Featurette (behind the scenes with Meaghan and Lindsey), a "10 Things I Hate vs. 10 Things I Love" Featurette (the cast answers crazy questions) and a bonus episode: the pilot of Make It or Break It.
01/12 - Becker - The Third Season
Becker centers on the life of Dr. John Becker, a cantankerous, yet dedicated and talented physician, who, in spite of his constant rants, has a decent heart underneath the sarcasm. Becker will continue to unleash his views at the local diner, even in Reggie’s continuing absense. Jake (Alex Desert), the blind proprietor of the local newsstand continues to turn a deaf ear to John. Bob, Becker’s brash, obnoxious apartment super (Saverio Guerra), persists in annoying virtually everyone. At the office, Becker’s head nurse Margaret (Hattie Winston) continues to make order out of chaos, keeping John and his space-cadet nurses-aid Linda (Shawnee Smith) in line. New to the neighborhood is Chris Konnors (Nancy Travis), Becker’s new neighbor, with whom he must contend on a daily basis. Although her positive attitude is a major annoyance to Becker, he slowly begins to have feelings for her. John Becker is a cynical Harvard Medical School graduate who is somewhat of a loner and has trouble letting people get close to him. He looks at the world around him and feels society has gone mad - full of inconsistencies and just plain backward thinking. Although he is a diagnostician by trade, Becker feels he can dispense diagnoses even when no one asks. He has no qualms about saying what comes to mind, never sugarcoats his opinions and often seems to offend somebody nearby. However, his friends and colleagues recognize the heart beneath the hate and so accept his gruff demeanor for what it is. The 3-disc set contains all 24 episodes from the third season and runs 520 minutes. They will be in full screen video and closed captioning will be available.

Brooklyn Bridge - Show creator Gary David Goldberg announced on his website in September that "On March 16, 2010 CBS will release the award-winning series 'Brooklyn Bridge' on DVD." Nothing further has been announced as of yet.

The Goldbergs - Shout! Factory is expected to release a "complete series" 6-disc set of all the surviving episodes of the 1949-1956 tv series via their online store in early 2010.
The Lucy Show - The Official Season 2 is scheduled for a July 13, 2010 release. If sales are strong for Season 2, we could see Season 3 in October.
The Mothers-in-Law - This one has been in the works for a long time. MPI is reportedly remastering the episodes and putting together some great bonus material (as almost all MPI sets have). It's not expected before second quarter 2010.
Special thanks to the fine folks at TVShowsOnDVD.com for the artwork and information in compiling this preview.
2010 Predictions:
These are my predictions and opinions only for 2010. Some of them probably have zero chance, but I still have them on my wish list. None of these titles have been officially announced.
Unfortunately, it appears that Sony have abandoned most of their classic tv series such as Diff'rent Strokes, The Facts of Life, Silver Spoons, Who's the Boss?, All in the Family, Benson, The Jeffersons, Maude, Barney Miller, Archie Bunker's Place and One Day at a Time. Hopefully they will change their mind and start releasing them again. If not, it would be great if Shout! Factory could acquire the rights to release the remaining seasons for some of these.
Some current shows that I expect to debut on DVD or have more seasons/volumes of are American Dad! Better Off Ted, The Big Bang Theory, The Cleveland Show, Community, Cougar Town, Curb Your Entusiasm, Family Guy, Tyler Perry's House of Payne, How I Met Your Mother, It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, Meet the Browns, The Middle, Modern Family, The Office, Parks and Recreation, Scrubs, The Simpsons, 30 Rock, Two and a Half Men, United States of Tara and Weeds. Some of these like Better Off Ted and Parks and Recration may depend on if they are brought back for another season. Even if they are not, I would say they have a decent chance.
Classic Shows Predictions:
According to Jim - We are still waiting on season 2. Hopefully this is the year.
Blossom - Likely a Shout! Factory Online exclusive like Mr. Belvedere and My Two Dads.
8 Simple Rules - We are still waiting for the third and final season.
Boy Meets World - Lionsgate licensed to the rights to this show and a number of others, but we didn't hear much from them in 2009.
California Dreams - Seasons 3-5 remain to be released. Shout! Factory could release them as online exclusives.
Family Ties - CBS DVD has released these at a pretty good rate. I expect Season 6 in 2010.
Frank's Place - It has been mentioned as a possibility for a DVD release, although it would have music changed. It didn't happen in 2009 but maybe in 2010?
George Lopez - Remains a big hit on Nick at Nite and George Lopez's Lopez Tonight is drawing viewers on TBS. It's time for more seasons Warner Brothers! Sheow!
Happy Days - Nothing in 2009. Let's hope for Season 5 this year.
Here's Lucy - Lucy is always popular. I expect to see Season 3 in 2010.
Hope & Faith - Season 1 was released but we are still waiting on Seasons 2-3from Lionsgate.
Laverne & Shirley - Another no show in 2009. Hopefully CBS DVD will resume releasing them.
Leave it to Beaver - It would be a perfect fit for Shout! Factory if they could get the rights to it to release the remaining seasons.
The Mary Tyler Moore Show - Only the seventh season remains to be released. Then FOX could package the complete series together.
Mork & Mindy - I know it wasn't the greatest season, but it would be nice to have the fourth and final season to complete the series.
My Wife and Kids - Is this the year Lionsgate starts releasing the shows they have licensed?
The New Adventures of Old Christine - A solid hit for CBS. I'm surprised we have only seen the first two seasons on DVD.
Perfect Strangers - I didn't originally have it on my predictions list last year but added it later. This show has to be as popular as Night Court. We need more Balki!
Rules of Engagment - If CBS ever picked up this show for a full season, we might see Season 3. Always does well in the ratings, but CBS never seems to have a place for it.
Spin City - Shout! Factory has released these at a good rate. I would expect Season 4 in the spring.
The Wonder Years - The first season had only six episodes. It could be given a trial run. Music licensing rights are a major issue, but hopefully a company like Shout! Factory could work on this set. Has been the #1 most requested unreleased show at TVShowsonDVD.com for quite awhile by a wide margin.
What are your predictions for 2010? What are you still hopeful of seeing released? Which new releases are you most excited about? Post your comments on our message board.
