SitcomsOnline Digest: Saved By the Bell Movie Preview; Fifth Season of Arrested Development; More Complete Series Sets from Shout!

Welcome to SitcomsOnline Digest! This week, we've got a preview of Lifetime's Saved By the Bell movie, news of a new season of Arrested Development, and even more Shout! Factory releases. Let's get going!

  • You can now see a preview of Lifetime's Unauthorized Saved By the Bell Story online, and we suggest limiting your caffeine before checking it out, since you may go from being "so excited" to "so scared" as Jessie famously did in the infamous "Jessie's Song" episode. (E! Online)
  • It looks like Arrested Development will be back for a fifth season on Netflix... at some point in time. (Huffington Post)
  • What do Yvette Nicole Brown and Penny Marshall have in common? Both will have played the role of Oscar Madison's assistant on two different versions of The Odd Couple, as Brown has been cast in the role of Dani in the upcoming CBS reboot. She will also continue in her recurring role on Community. (TVLine)
  • It looks like Bill Cosby is one step closer to returning to NBC. (Deadline)
  • Welcome to Sweden, the import comedy that NBC has been airing this summer, will actually be returning for a second season in the United States. While it hasn't been a huge success, it has been doing well in one very valuable demographic: high-income households. (Deadline)
  • Girl Meets World has been renewed for a second season. (SitcomsOnline)

Who to Follow: Norman Lear (Twitter), "Produced All in the Family, Good Times, Mary Hartman, Spinal Tap, Stand By Me, Princess Bride. Wrote memoir Even This I Get to Experience"
Claim to Fame: If you know anything about sitcoms, you should know who Norman Lear is... but in case you don't, he was the producer of several successful sitcoms including All in the Family, The Jeffersons, Good Times, Maude, Sanford & Son, One Day at a Time, among many others. That isn't even including several other series that came out of his production company. In a sense, Lear can be thought of as the godfather of the modern sitcom. He just recently (as in the past week and a half) made his debut on Twitter, and we're hoping to see more activity from him for several years to come.
Pick of the Tweets: "Of the nearly 8 billion people crawling on Earth, I have chosen u, my dearest darling @carlreiner, 2 receive my first personal tweet.#ETIGTE" (August 5, 2014)
