Mid-Season:

Additionally to Supernanny & Set for Your Life, ABC will add the following to mid-season: new sitcom In Case of Emergency; new dramas Day Break, Traveler; and new reality entries Just For Laughs, Greg Behrendt's Wake-Up Call. ABC will air returning sitcoms George Lopez & According to Jim after the first installment of Dancing with the Stars' season is over in December or January.
Lost is expected to air in two big chunks without repeats. So, maybe one new drama for January will air for 6 weeks or so in its time-slot until it returns (as of now, Day Break is scheduled).

For the third year in a row, I had a pleasure to watch ABC's upfront presentation live today from 4-6pm ET. It was interesting and the clips for most of the shows look promising. The sitcoms all look smart and well written (all single camera). The dramas look like they can become big hits, especially Six Degrees, Brothers & Sisters and The Nine. William Shatner was on hand mocking last year's Marc Cherry dance at the upfront. Then all the men stars of ABC from Matthew Fox, Tom Bergeron, Jim Belushi and more came by. Shatner introduced the comedies portion of ABC's roster. Then Jimmy Kimmel came by and was hilarious. He introduced the alternative series ABC has. There was a bet between Kimmel and ABC head Steve McPherson on which Dancing with the Star would be booted first--Kenny Mayne or Master P? McPherson lost, so he had to do a dance with Edyta (professional dancer) live on stage. Then the cast of Grey's Anatomy introduced the dramas portion of ABC's roster. And finally the six ladies of Desperate Housewives closed the presentation.
Some answers to some questions: Yes, Commander in Chief is canceled, but ABC could bring back the show in two-hour movie format with the entire cast. Invasion is canceled, and ABC said they loved the show so much and it is too bad it never caught on in the ratings. The CW could still pick it up, so fans of the show still have some life. And mid-season drama What About Brian will return next fall. The show is from J.J. Abrams, who will have three shows on the fall lineup for ABC, but the series didn't do too well in the ratings (it did grow in each outing its last three airings). Though, a right lead-in was not provided. In the fall The Bachelor will be the lead-in, so that will help a bit. Reality show American Inventor will be back sometime next season.

Nick@Nite is adding NewsRadio and A Different World to its line-up in July. Both will not get Nick@Nite-type launch marathons, because they will be incorporated right into their annual summer marathons. NewsRadio will air Monday nights from 2-6am and A Different World will air Wednesdays from 10pm-2am. They also will get regular airings on weekends, Different at 10 p.m. and NewsRadio at 4am (ouch). The rest of the summer marathon line-up can be found here and details of reality original series Hi-Jinks' second season is there, too.
Meanwhile, sister station TV Land has not yet announced its July line-up (only change expected is 227 joining the line-up), but they made some huge schedule changes that will start this coming Monday (May 22)! The weekday line-up from 8am-2pm is completely different, as is the evening 5-8pm line-up, and some other slots later in the night. The Munsters & Green Acres get the best out of these changes, as both will have three airings. This schedule will be in effect in June too, but Benson will be the only change on June 5 as it joins the line-up at 11 p.m. You can view ALL the May 22 schedule changes by clicking here.

New drama The Black Donnellys will air Thursdays at 10:00 p.m. in January. Single camera sitcoms The Singles Table and Andy Barker, P.I. will also join at a later date. Fan favorites Crossing Jordan and Scrubs will return to the NBC schedule at some point later in the season.

NBC is introducing the "TV 360" digital components to its 2006-07 Fall schedule, with original and exclusive content ranging from interactive television to webisodes, all built around the network's innovative and new programming. Keeping with its rich comedy heritage, NBC is launching a new broadband comedy channel. DOTCOMEDY.com will create a community around one of life's universal pleasures -- laughter. Anchored by some of NBC's best-known franchises and library programs, this online channel will feature everything from classic comedy television shows to viral videos to renowned NBC late-night programming including content from Saturday Night Live, The Tonight Show, Late Night with Conan O'Brien, the first ten years of Late Night With David Letterman, The Office, Last Comic Standing, Dream On, Coach, Leave It To Beaver, The Munsters, and much more. DOTCOMEDY.com will also feature original content produced exclusively for the site including blogs, mash-ups and podcasts.
NBC Universal will also launch a FIRSTLOOK.com franchise for each of its online properties (NBCFIRSTLOOK.com, USAFIRSTLOOK.com, SCIFIFIRSTLOOK.com, BRAVOFIRSTLOOK.com and so on). Each site will premiere up to four episodes of their respective networks' series, in their entirety, each year. This is great news and hopefully we get the entire NBC Universal classic TV comedy library. Amen, Major Dad, Gimme a Break, Charles in Charge, Kate & Allie and some others would also be nice! We will have more news on this when available, such as the full list of shows and when it is launching. So, now we have Warner Bros., Paramount possibly and now Universal putting classic TV online. Sony, Fox, Buena Vista, you better be next!

Week 34 First Four Day Ratings; How the Sitcoms Did

Week 34 numbers (first four nights, Mon-Thu):

Households: CBS: 9.8/15.4; FOX 9.1/14.1; NBC: 7.1/11.1; ABC: 5.2/8.2; The WB: 2.4/3.8; UPN 1.9/3.0.
Total Viewers: CBS: 15.26 million; FOX: 15.17 million; NBC: 10.84 million; ABC: 7.98 million; The WB: 3.61 million; UPN: 2.77 million.
Adults 18-49: FOX 6.3/16.3; CBS: 4.7/12.2; NBC: 4.0/10.3; ABC: 3.1/8.1; The WB: 1.5/3.8; UPN: 1.3/3.3.

Analysis: It was more of the same for this week in May sweeps, but the real fun begins tonight with season finales, starting with the two-night Grey's Anatomy season finale! ABC and Fox will have the biggest season finals, ratings wise, but CBS could also have some. Meanwhile, NBC has probably had its strongest numbers for sweeps already, but Will & Grace's series finale might pull some numbers. But I am not expecting huge numbers like 25 million or something, but they will be lucky to get 15 million I think. Fox again had a strong first three days for the week. 24 was first in its 9 p.m. timeslot with 13.86 million viewers (Two and a Half Men won the 9 p.m. half hour for CBS with 14.87 million) and a strong 5.7 rating in A18-49. ABC's David Blaine special did well building on each half hour and peaking at 9:30 p.m. with a stunning 6.0 A18-49 rating. Prison Break on Fox at 8 p.m. starting the night with a second place finish in A18-49 and total viewers. CBS's comedies during the 8 p.m. hour needs a bit tweaking next fall, after a good run earlier this season, the shows were 5th place in A18-49, thanks to 7th Heaven's so-called series finale doing very well with a 3.0 A18-49 rating (and 7.56 million viewers). Monday's highest rated show, CSI: Miami, was just that with 19.96 million. ABC's What Abut Brian season finale was up again with 6.4 million viewers, and the series has been renewed. J.J. Abrams always strikes gold with his series. Tuesday was all Fox with American Idol & House, with 28.85 and 24.29 million viewers. House was up from last week's ratings by nearly 2 million viewers. CBS's dramas did well against them with NCIS and The Unit both scoring well but everything else was anemic, like usual. ABC's Bird Flu movie did about as good as the struggling comedies usually do--which is not good. A special The Unit episode at 10 p.m. was neck-and-beck with powerhouse Law & Order: SVU at 10 p.m.--12.33 to 12.88 million. Maybe SVU will be dethroned there next season? Wednesday it was again Fox, as Idol was too much for everyone with 27.88 million in the 9 p.m. half hour, though down nearly 2 million from last week. Lost on ABC did a decent 16.35 million opposite the AI juggernaut and an impressive 6.9 A18-49 rating, peaking at 9:30 p.m. with well over a 7 rating. CBS's Criminal Minds season finale was also in the game in the hour with 12.67 million. Deal or No Deal scored 15.54 million viewers for NBC to start the night, up more than 3 million from last week, which was affected by a special House airing. So that answers my question--House is more of a must see than that game show. Thursday it was all CBS in a big way. CBS's Survivor easily won in total viewers and adults 18-49 at 8 p.m. CBS won the 9 and 10 p.m. hours with new episodes of CSI and Without a Trace scoring 27.04 and 19.19 million, both slightly up from the previous week. NBC's comedies were all super-sized to 40 minutes and did decent, especially Will & Grace. Grace scored 9.36 million viewers. Friday saw NBC winning with Deal or No Deal winning the 8 p.m. hour and CBS bombing with a special in place of Ghost Whisperer. What were they thinking? Loser of the night was again NBC's Conviction, which was canceled this weekend. Saturday saw decent numbers for Fox's NASCAR coverage. NBC and CBS did decent with crime drama repeats. I think the networks will try to be more aggresive next season on Saturdays, with ABC leading the charge. FOX will win the week in adults 18-49, but CBS will win in total viewers. ABC will win tonight in a big way with the part one of the two-night season finale of the most talked about show, Grey's Anatomy. ABC's line-up of EM: Home Edition, DH, & GA are all-new and unstoppable!


Monday Sitcoms

• The King of Queens (CBS) - 7.99 million for a new episode, up 500,000 from last week. Rumor has it the show will return at earliest mid-season 2007, if at all.
• How I Met Your Mother (CBS) - 8.07 million...not bad.
• Two and a Half Men (CBS) - 14.87 million for an all-new episode.
• New Adventures of Old Christine (CBS) - 11.87 million tuned in, down 500,000 from last week.
• One on One (UPN), All of Us (UPN), Girlfriends (UPN) - Girlfriends had an hour long episode doing very well for them at 3.47 million

• Scrubs (NBC) 2 episodes - New episodes did OK with 6.2 million at 9 p.m., repeat did 5.59 million right after it.

• Will & Grace (NBC) - Super-sized 40 minute episode comes through with 9.36 million
• That's 70s Show (FOX) - 6.18 million for an episode at 8 p.m. followed by a clip-show/interview retrospective at 8:37 p.m. to 10 p.m. that did 7.8 million. Series finale next week. Fox is hoping for 10 million maybe.
  
• My Name is Earl (NBC) - 9.35 million, up from last week, but down a bit from lead-in.
  
• The Office (NBC) - 7.66 million for another super-sized comedy from NBC.
  
• Everybody Hates Chris (UPN) - 3.31 million for a new episode.

Summing it up. Two and a Half Men, Will & Grace, My Name is Earl and The New Adventures of Old Christine were impressive for the week. Everything else was OK (such as The Office, King of Queens, How I Met Your Mother) or just plain old terrible (such as UPN Thursday).

Upfront Notes; 'Knight Rider' Movie; and More!

As we have relayed our upfront picks this past week, networks have began picking up new pilots left and right and relaying other news, such as what series will be back and which won't be.

ABC has picked-up the following pilots already:

The CW and CBS have been quiet and have not officially picked up any additional pilots. CBS has picked up sitcom The Class, but that was known. CBS has passed on its drama pilot The Ultra to The CW for consideration. CW has picked up 7th Heaven for its 11th season, which was surprising. Invasion could head from ABC to the CW, but probably won't.

The 1980s TV action drama Knight Rider has become the latest TV show to find a new life as a feature film.
The Weinstein Company has acquired the rights to develop and produce a movie from Glen A. Larson, the original creator of the show. As part of the deal, Larson will write the script and co-executive produce the movie.
The project has bounced around several studios over the past decade, and most recently was in development at Sony-based Revolution Studios. Weinstein Company has already announced they are preparing feature films based on the TV shows Welcome Back, Kotter and The Equalizer. Other Larson TV series slated for the big-screen include The Fall Guy and Magnum P.I. Actor David Hasselhoff has apparently been dismissed from the upcoming film version of the show, even after he pleaded with the show's creator for a part in the adaptation, according to a published report.

Lovespring International, the new half-hour improvisational comedy series from Eric McCormack and Michael Forman's Big Cattle Productions and distributed by Lionsgate, has been picked up for an additional seven episodes, it was announced today by Susanne Daniels, President, Entertainment, Lifetime Entertainment Services. Initially given a six episode order, the series centers on a dating service marketed to customers as an "elite Beverly Hills" company, despite its location in Tarzana, California. Comprised of dysfunctional misfits or "relationship counselors," they desperately try to find love for their clients although they have no idea how to do it for themselves. Lovespring International premieres Monday, June 5 at 11 p.m. (ET/PT) on Lifetime Television.

The newest network looks to put the best from the old WB and UPN together, along with some new shows, for a network that will have established hits before it even premieres, for the first time in television history.

Comments: This is another tough prediction because we are putting two networks into one and still picking new shows from development. The CW was not happy with its development slate, so I think series like Veronica Mars and One Tree Hill will indeed return. Perhaps Everwood, too. Mondays I think The CW will stick with UPN's black comedy line-up. Tuesday they will stick with The WB's hot drama line-up, Wednesday it is like UPN, Thursday The WB and Friday UPN. So, nicely spread out, if you ask me. I think they will hold Nick Lachey's sitcom for mid-season because it just doesn't fit with any of their other sitcoms. Reba is dead I think and will not return. Which means, The WB has no returning sitcoms. CBS passed on the pilot for The Ultra, so The CW might pick it up as early as this fall, but I put it for mid-season. Also, if ABC cancels the well written Invasion, The CW might pick it up, too. Invasion is from Warner Bros. Television, so it would be easy to pick it up. I hope ABC keeps it, but if they don't, I hope The CW picks it up, because that show is SO good. But where would it go? After Smallville maybe? I'm not going to list what shows are gone, because UPN and The WB will be canceling or ending so many. But you can say goodbye to favorites Charmed, 7th Heaven, Reba, Eve, All of Us and Half & Half. And pathetic stuff like Love, Inc. and Modern Men. The latest rumblings say The CW will only pick-up one new drama, Runaway. Palm Springs is still a question mark, so that is why I think Everwood might get the nod. No one knows what the heck happened to Aquaman. That was a given to the CW line-up, but might not even make at all now. I went with it and put it for mid-season. That and The Ultra might be a good combo. And reality hit Beauty and the Geek will for sure be back for mid-season.

Remember, next Thursday (May 18) is the actual date when we will findout The CW's plans for the 2006-07 season. SitcomsOnline.com Upfront Preview: Fox; TBS Renews 'Saved by the Bell', But Not 'Mama's Family'

Fox has the strongest show in television right now and a hot drama called House. With that they will always be in the mix at the top for adults 18-49, especially after January. The question is can they find some new hits for the fall and try to build on that when that little show American Idol returns in January? Will Futurama be brought back from the dead like Family Guy? Will Fox actually pick up a decent sitcom? An no not Free Ride, Life on a Stick, Stacked and some of the other garbage they have aired over the last few years.

Comments: Fox is tough to figure out. They have like two different line-ups for the fall and January. Of course 24 and American Idol will come back in January. Question is if American Idol will be Tuesday and Thursday next season instead of Tuesday/Wednesday? Bernie Mac will have to be back I think because they need something for the fall with Malcolm and That '70s Show ending, and it should be gone for good in January. The War at Home will probably be back, too, on another night. I think House will move to Wednesdays in January so American Idol can give another show a boost on Tuesdays. As for the results show, maybe Thursdays at 8:00PM followed by Til Death? Like I said, Fox is a tough one to figure out. And so many series are goners: Arrested Development, Kitchen Confidential, That '70s Show, Stacked, Head Cases, Reunion, Free Ride, The Loop, Malcolm in the Middle and Killer Instinct. I might have missed something. I think Nanny 911, Unan1mous and Trading Spouses will return at some point. Like when anything fails fast. Hopefully The O.C. fails. Futurama looks like it will return. If it does, then I say Bernie Mac is safe because a sitcom will be needed for another night. I can't comment anymore on this, because Fox is just weird. As long as American Idol is pulling big numbers, Fox will always be a contender in the second half and for the season in A18-49.

TBS has renewed its longest running show on the network yet again. Saved by the Bell reruns, which started in 1992 on the network, has been renewed yet again! It was set to expire after this August, but TBS has picked it up for another few more years. The show has done very well for them in the mornings in recent years. It even popped-up for two weeks on sister network Cartoon Network's Adult Swim block! Meanwhile, the news is not as good for another TBS favorite. Reruns of Mama's Family are also expiring after August, but TBS has decided they will not renew this one. Mama's Family has been on the network since 1997. It has been recently airing from 6-7am ET for a while. It will be replaced by Cosby Show at 6 a.m. and Drew Carey at 6:30 a.m. in September. Hopefully another cable network (TV Land???) will pick-up the series fast or better yet, Warner Home Video should release it on DVD. We don't have the full list of changes yet for TBS's September line-up, but we do know that reruns of The King of Queens will join the station in October. Cosby Show and Dawson's Creek will still be around this fall, too. I said before that they probably were expiring, but they're actually not. I think 2007 is the year when they expire. Dawson's Creek will ALSO be coming to The N in September. I guess another shared deal.

The network with the most balanced line-up and most popular drama chain (CSI, CSI Miami, CSI NY) looks to fix the small problems they have. I think they have sprung a leak in their comedy block on Monday in the opening hour, the CBS Sunday Movie needs to go, and maybe a bold move like moving Without a Trace.

Comments: I actually think they will bring in three new sitcoms for the fall, while most experts say two. Since The King of Queens is said to be not returning, but my money is that it will return in the mid-season for its last batch of episodes, whether it be 6 or 13. The series deserves an actual series finale. I put The Amazing Race off the fall line-up. I think it will return in January, as it has shown signs of decline. Close to Home is on the bubble for CBS, yet it wins its slot regularly on Friday nights, so I think it will return. Maybe CBS can try it on Saturdays to spice up that night. The CBS Sunday Movie is one of few series that will not return I think for CBS. Other series canceled or will be include Courting Alex, Out of Practice, Threshold, Love Monkey, Yes Dear & Still Standing. I think CBS will be bold and move Without a Trace to Sundays at 10 opposite the NFL on NBC and whatever high profile drama that will air on ABC. Can Trace show its legs without CSI? CBS will be happy with 12-15 million...anything under will be a bust, anything over will be a surprise. The series gets 17-20 million usually from CSI. I think CBS should go a different direction on Saturdays. Forget crime repeats. I say for mid-season they should try that Creature Comforts animated half-hour series (it has been picked-up already, so why not?), then a few reality driven shows like Guess Who's Coming Over (which could be a half hour series) and A Hero's Welcome (which is an hour). CBS also has a half hour series with host Wayne Brady titled Jokes On You that could work--unless his CW sitcom pilot is picked up--maybe he can do both since CBS and CW are releated. Then they can still air 48 Hours Mystery at 10 p.m. to close the night, but from 8 to 10, they should plug and play with those alternative series. Sitcom wise, The Class has been picked-up already and should go well with How I Met Your Mother and Inseparable looks promising and matches Two and a Half Men's audience well I think. I picked Welcome to the Jungle Gym to pair up with Old Christine, as both are women driven. All of these are traditional sitcoms. CBS has only one single camera sitcom in the development stage, so it is unlikely it will make it. I think sitcom You've Reached the Elliots will come mid-season, along with dramas AKA and Company Town.

Comments: I went the aggressive path with ABC on Saturdays. I feel something new is needed on this night where every network is giving up (sorry news magazines do not count!). Men in Trees is a nice high profile drama that has tested well, so maybe Fridays would be more suitable, but I'm being aggressive and scheduling it on a Saturday--who knows ABC could actually win this night. I have brought back Invasion because it is one damn good show. It deserves another shot. As does sitcom Sons & Daughters, which I think ABC will try once again, probably mid-season. A few of my other favorites such as What About Brian and Commander in Chief probably will not get another shot; others that will be canceled or are ending include: Alias, Crumbs, Less than Perfect, Rodney, Hot Properties, The Night Stalker, The Evidence, Jake in Progress, Emily's Reasons Why Not, Miracle Workers and In Justice. I will bring back on the bubble sitcoms Jim, George, Freddie and Hope & Faith one last time, and put them on a night where there is no pressure--Saturdays. It worked for NBC in the late '80s and early '90s with Facts of Life, Golden Girls, 227 and Amen--so why not try again? I think The Bachelor and American Inventor will both return for mid-season. One of them will probably give Dancing with the Stars a break in January, but Dancing will have two installments this season (Sept-Dec and March-May probably) I think. Looking at the fall line-up, ABC has at least one strong show each night (such as Desperate Housewives, Lost) and hopefully they can build or maintain ratings with new shows such as Six Degrees and Secrets of a Small Town. Moving Grey's Anatomy maybe be a risk, but it will help ABC a lot on Mondays and we can look for it to be number one in its time-slot. New sitcom wise, I have penciled in two single camera sitcoms to lead-off Tuesdays, two traditional sitcoms on Thursdays, and a high profile single camera sitcom geared towards women on Fridays from Elton John. On the bench for mid-season I have picked up two new dramas and one new sitcom (single camera). The one new sitcom for mid-season is Pink Collar. I wanted to pick up also Separated at Worth (traditional sitcom) and Let's Rob Mick Jagger, but I don't think they will be picked-up. ABC has Masters of Science Fiction for mid-season probably, could work Fridays or Saturdays. It should be another ratings plus for ABC in the fall. They just have to find a way to maintain it for mid-season.

In a syndication first, CBS sitcom Two and a Half Men will be available in syndication in fall 2007 not only on local channels, but their websites, too! Warner Bros. Television announced Monday that they will start selling the show to locals this week. And the locals will also put the show online for free on their websites. You'll see the episodes premiere on TV on the local channel, then a week later the episode will be online anytime you want to view on the local channel's website. It is an interesting move and I like it. I'm liking all this free online on demand viewing. I just wish Sony would do it too, so we can watch their classic library online anytime (you know, Diff'rent Strokes, What's Happening!!, Facts of Life, Silver Spoons, Jeffersons, etc). I'm enjoying Warner Bros. programming on In2TV very much and hopefully Paramount's innertunbe puts classic TV programming. Back to Two and a Half Men, the show will be available for cable (bets are on for TBS) in fall 2010, and Warner Bros. will also allow the cable channel to put the episodes on their websites a week later. Cool!

Comments: So what about ER, Crossing Jordan and Law & Order: Criminal Intent? I say they will be benched until January after the NFL ends. The West Wing, Will & Grace, E-Ring, Apprentice: Martha Stewart, Conviction, Teachers, Four Kings, Joey, Heist, Three Wishes, Inconceivable, Book of Daniel, and Surface are all (or will be) canceled or ended. I really think NBC will only go with one comedy night. Scrubs could also be benched until January and perhaps another single-camera new sitcom, like Andy Barker, P.I. could take its place in the fall. There is a good chance that Tina Fey's sitcom could be paired with The Office. So NBC will be multi-camera sitcom-less in the fall, but I have them picking up 20 Good Years for mid-season. If none of this fails, I think ER will be on the move to another night in January, perhaps Sundays or Wednesdays. Really NBC's only hits this past season were Deal or No Deal and My Name is Earl. They can use Deal or No Deal as a launching pad, since it airs on two nights, for two high-profile dramas. My Name is Earl has been slowly going down as the season ends, so I'm not sure what to expect of NBC's Thursday night comedy block. Their biggest and most talked about new show (Studio 60 On The Sunset Strip) is almost a lock for Thursdays at 10. And finally, The Apprentice (Donald Edition) will probably be on its last legs this season. I was hesitant to put it in my prediction, because this could be another show held back until mid-season.

Get ready to go back in time like it was 1980 as The Facts of Life girls are all together again for the first time since it was canceled in 1988. Yes, there was a reunion movie on ABC in 2001, but Nancy McKeon (who played Jo on the show) was not in it. But tomorrow morning in the 9 a.m. hour on NBC's Today show, you will see Nancy McKeon, Lisa Whelchel, Kim Fields and Mindy Cohn reunited once again promoting the first two seasons release on DVD from Sony Pictures Home Entertainment. Charlotte Rae, who played Mrs. Garrett, is not listed in appearing, which is a sad, but at least we will see the four girls together again for the very first since 1988. Don't miss it tomorrow morning at 9 a.m. on NBC's Today show. We will keep you all up to date if the cast is appearing anywhere else to promote the DVD. Week 33 First Four Day Ratings; How the Sitcoms Did

Week 33 numbers (first four nights, Mon-Thu):

Households: CBS: 9.2/14.5; FOX 9.2/14.3; NBC: 6.5/10.2; ABC: 5.0/7.8; The WB: 2.4/3.8; UPN 1.7/2.7.
Total Viewers: FOX 15.25 million; CBS: 14.25 million; NBC: 9.64 million; ABC: 7.52 million; The WB: 3.72 million; UPN: 2.56 million.
Adults 18-49: FOX 6.1/16.2; CBS: 4.4/11.5; NBC: 3.5/9.3; ABC: 2.8/7.4; The WB: 1.5/4.0; UPN: 1.2/3.0.

Analysis: The second week of May sweeps saw more of the same as week one. It will get interesting when the season finals start airing. Fox again had a strong Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. 24 was first in its 9 p.m. timeslot with 13.15 million viewers (Two and a Half Men won the 9 p.m. half hour for CBS with 14.31 million) and a strong 5.2 rating in A18-49. Prison Break before that was second place in A18-49 and total viewers. CBS's comedies were all new, the 8 p.m. hour has sprung a huge leak though. Both King of Queens and How I Met Your Mother usually score 9-10 million or more, but now they are in the 7 million range, not good for impressive for the week. Monday's highest rated show, CSI: Miami, was just that with 19.31 million, nearly doubling the next nearest program (Medium 10.16 million). ABC's What Abut Brian was up from last week's 5.38 million to 6.03 million, losing a lot of its Supernanny season finale lead-in (which did an impressive 10.31 million). Tuesday was all Fox with American Idol & House, with 28.58 and 22.71 million viewers. House was down from last week's ratings but this week was a two-part episode that continued on Wednesday. CBS's dramas did well against them with NCIS and The Unit both scoring well over 14 million but everything else was anemic, like usual. CBS did however lose a lot of ground at 10 p.m. with the Dynasty Reunion which was a big bust at 5.35 million. ABC's comedies did terrible, as According to Jim and Hope & Faith's season finales very well might be series finales. Less than Perfect will be back in June with more new episodes, but after that there is no shot of another season. Wednesday it was better than usual for Fox, as House aired on this night, too and scored 17.16 million to open the night! Fox's Idol was too much for everyone with 29.26 million in the 9 p.m. half hour. Lost was back with all-new episodes and a huge shocking ending and did a decent 15.56 million opposite the AI juggernaut. CBS's Criminal Minds was also in the game in the hour with 12.17 million. Deal or No Deal scored 12.41 million viewers for NBC to start the night, down more than 3 million from last week thanks to the special House airing. Thursday it was all CBS in a big way. CBS's Survivor easily won in total viewers and adults 18-49 at 8 p.m. CBS won the 9 and 10 p.m. hours with new episodes of CSI and Without a Trace scoring 26.05 and 19.11 million. Without a Trace was up from last week, so good sign for CBS, but I still like the rumors that the show will be moving to another night. NBC's comedies were all down big once again, especially My Name is Earl. Earl only scored 8.8 million down from last week's 9.05 million viewers. The aging ER did only 11.78 million, and the rumor is NBC will bench it next fall and air it in January. Friday saw CBS winning with its dramas lead by NUMB3RS. Loser of the night was NBC's Conviction, which will be convicted probably after the season. Saturday saw decent numbers again for CBS with repeats of CSI: NY and CSI and an all-new 48 Hours Mystery. I think the networks will try to be more aggresive next season on Saturdays, at least I hope. FOX will win the week in adults 18-49, but CBS will win in total viewers. ABC will win tonight in a big way and will surpass NBC again in total viewers and A18-49 for the week. It'll be close. But it won't be close tonight as EM: Home Edition and DH, & GA are all-new!


Monday Sitcoms

• The King of Queens (CBS) - 7.44 million for a new episode is concerning.
• How I Met Your Mother (CBS) - New episode scored 7.24 million,down from last week's 7.6 million. This show might be a little overrated.
• Two and a Half Men (CBS) - 14.31 million for an all-new episode. Easily the number one sitcom, but this is no Raymond.
• New Adventures of Old Christine (CBS) - 11.92 million tuned in, but this show was doing much better than that in its first few airings. Expect this show to probably lead-off Mondays next fall.
• One on One (UPN), All of Us (UPN), Girlfriends (UPN), Half and Half (UPN) - All new and had usual numbers, peaking at 9 p.m. with 2.85 million. One of them will survive to the CW.
  

Tuesday Sitcoms

• According to Jim (ABC) - 4.54 million for the season finale. Dana is pregnant. Will we find out if she ever has the baby next season? The show is on the bubble.
• Hope & Faith (ABC) 2 episodes - 2 all new episodes. 4.11 million at 8:30 and the season finale at 5.7 million at 9 p.m. Both up from last week, but I still think According to Jim should've aired at 9 p.m.
  
• Less than Perfect (ABC) - 4.98 million tuned in, now we have to wait until June for more new episodes.
  
• Scrubs (NBC) 2 episodes - 3.01 million at 8:30 for a repeat is pathetic, and only 5.07 million for a new show at 9 p.m. losing to Hope & Faith even.
  
• Teachers (NBC) - 4.49 million only. Cancelation clock is ticking.
  

Wednesday Sitcoms

• Everybody Hates Chris (UPN) 2 episodes - Two special repeat airings did 2.44 and 2.35 million.

• Will & Grace (NBC) 2 episodes - 6.97 for an all-new episode followed by 7 million for a repeat.

Reba: Season finale and a repeat were both last. 2.0 and 1.9 rating each.

Summing it up. Two and a Half Men, My Name is Earl (almost did not make it here), and The New Adventures of Old Christine were impressive for the week. Everything else was OK (such as The Office, King of Queens, How I Met Your Mother) or just plain old terrible (such as UPN Thursday, Scrubs 8:30, Teachers).
Sad state for the sitcom this May. Hopefully it will be better next fall.

'Roseanne' Marathon on Monday on Nick@Nite; 'Four Kings' Being Burned-Off On NBC After Sweeps

Nick@Nite has scheduled a last minute Roseanne marathon this coming Monday, right after the Funniest Mom marathon. Funniest Mom marathon is from 9 to 11 p.m. and Roseanne is from 11 p.m. to 6 a.m. Second season finale of Funniest Mom airs the following night at 9 p.m. Episodes for the Roseanne marathon are the following (in order): #163, #164, #67, #68, #69, #70, #166, #167, #67, #68, #69, #70, #166, #167.

Four Kings will return to the NBC Thursday line-up on Thursday, May 25. One day after May sweeps finishes. It will air Thursdays at 8:30 p.m. for six weeks before being gone for good. I wonder if NBC will bring back Joey this summer, too? 8 episodes are still left to air before that is done for good. Drama E-Ring has some episodes left, too.

Replacement Discs for S'more Entertainment's 'Mister Peepers' & 'Lotsa Luck'; New CBS Internet Channel

Our good friend Arny Schorr of S'more Entertainment asked us to let you all know that if you purchased DVD sets of classic sitcoms Mister Peepers and Lotsa Luck and had some problems, replacement discs are available now for free. For Lotsa Luck, an incorrect pilot episode was placed on original sets. It was given that way to them by the distributor. When the problem was identified, they went to work and discovered the correct pilot episode. They subsequently remastered Disc One to include the right pilot. There are a number of people who've contacted them for a replacement disc but in the interest of making sure no consumer is offended we are spreading the news that buyers of this set can get a replacement disc, for free!
They are also replacing discs for Mister Peepers where Sony, on the initial manufacturing run, placed two of the same discs onto each box set. To learn how you can get replacement discs of each, click here. And don't forget to visit the S'more website for information on their classic TV series on DVD. He tells me more classic TV DVDs are on the way and we will let you all know what they are when the time is right. It sounds good!

And the world of television on the internet just got bigger. Effective today, CBS has created a free service on their website called "innertube," a new, advertising-supported broadband channel offering a wide range of free entertainment programming to Internet users. In the coming months, innertube will also become a distribution outlet for streaming encore episodes from CBS's prime time line-up and for webcasts of content from CBS Corporation's vast library of 2,600 titles and 100,000 hours of television programming. It will also become an alternative programming option for series broadcast on the Network that didn't reach a mass audience, but have a loyal, passionate following that lends itself to Internet appeal.
Innertube, which can be accessed from the home page of CBS.com, will initially stream three shows daily. One new program will be posted on the channel each day, Monday through Friday, making at least five new offerings on the site throughout the week. Programming will be archived and can be accessed at any time with innertube's browse function

Three type of programming will be available eventually on this entertainment online channel:
• Original fare such as Greek to Chic, a hookup and makeover series for frat boys; Inturn, a reality show about actor hopefuls competing for a spot on CBS soap As the World Turns; and sketch comedy BBQ Bill.
• Companion interviews and behind-the-scenes segments from CBS entertainment shows, including Survivor, The Late Show with David Letterman and The Amazing Race.
• Streamed episodes of older or failed series, such as the spring drama Love Monkey, last summer's comedy-reality series Fire Me ... Please and shows from Paramount's syndication library, possibly including titles such as I Love Lucy & The Brady Bunch.

The last part of course caught our eye and fits this website. We are all very happy with Warner Bros/AOL's In2TV and we hope Paramount will do something similar with innertube and bring classic TV to the internet. Preferably shows that are not on cable television currently. Webster, Dear John, Get Smart, Honeymooners, Gomer

House of Payne' Time-Slot in Houston; Desperate Housewives on Lifetime Time-Slot

Yesterday we told you the time-slot for New York City for the new first-run syndicated sitcom House of Payne, now we will release the other station that will air it. KTXH in Houston will air two preview episodes at 8 and 8:30 p.m. on May 8. Then the two week trial run will begin a week later on May 15, weeknights at 6:30 p.m., replacing an episode of Steve Harvey The other stations we mentioned yesterday will premiere the sitcom at a later date.

We all know season one reruns of the mega hit Desperate Housewives are coming to Lifetime this August. We are proud to announce that it will air Saturday nights at 11 p.m. starting August 5. So catch the ladies from Wisteria Lane from the beginning. And don't forget to pick-up the second season DVD later that month on August 29. And of course the final three episodes of season two are still to come Sunday nights at 9 p.m. on ABC!
Also coming to Lifetime this August are sitcom reruns of Reba and Still Standing. We will have more on those a bit later when the time is right.

More On New Syndicated Sitcom 'House of Payne', And More on E! TV's 'Child Star Confidential'

New York City's WWOR-My9, MyNetworkTV’s flagship station, is proud to announce the airing of a limited broadcast of the first 10 episodes of Tyler Perry’s first run, original comedy series House of Payne this spring. Viewers can catch the debut of the House of Payne’s first two episodes during primetime on Monday, May 8 (9-10 p.m.). Later that same night, My9 will begin its limited two-week run of all 10 episodes at 11 p.m.
House of Payne, produced by Tyler Perry and distributed by Debmar-Mercury, is about the comical situations that ensue when a multi-generational family lives under one roof, and reflects Perry’s gift for delivering inspirational and uplifting stories with identifiable characters.

The show will replace Bernie Mac at 11 p.m., which slides to 11:30 p.m., which replaces Girlfriends, which moves to 11:30 a.m. replacing Coach. Coach will be off the air on My9 until this two week run finishes.
As mentioned before, other stations slated to air the show include: KTXH CH 20 Houston; WCIU CH 26 Chicago; WPHL CH 17 Philadelphia; WBDC CH 50 Washington, DC; WTBS CH 17 Atlanta; KTXA CH 21 Dallas; WBFS CH 33 Miami; WNUV CH 54 Baltimore; and WRDC CH 28 Raleigh. Houston will also start on May 8, with the other channels still not confirmed when they will start.

Nick@Nite/TV Land Upfront 2006; 'Commander in Chief' Off ABC Line-Up

TV Land and Nick@Nite had their addnual upfront presentation today and announced quite a bit of information. TV Land tonight unveiled a slate of new originals, returning series and specials, the first of which begin airing June 28, it was announced at the MTV Networks Upfront Presentation held at New York's The Theatre at Madison Square Garden. The latest development slate underscores TV Land's commitment to super serve baby boomers, the first generation of Americans who grew up watching television. The presentation was punctuated by a live appearance by Mr. T, who was on-hand to promote I Pity the Fool, one of the new series debuting on the network.
Original series and specials that will air are: TV Land Top 10, My First Time, Boomer Knows Best, I Pity the Fool, TV Land Confidential, Urban Myths and Legends, 100 Most Memorable Catchphrases, Back to the Grind and Sitdown Comedy with David Steinberg. Also, as we know TV Land will debut sitcoms all summer, including Benson in June, 227 in July and The Jeffersons in September.

Nick@Nite announced their new sitcom acquisitions. We knew about all of them already, but NewsRadio. NewsRadio will debut on Nick@Nite in July. We also have a date on A Different World, which will air Wednesdays starting July 19 part of Nick@Nite's annual summer line-up. And we knew Designing Women starts in October and Home Improvement in September 2007. Long range plans include The Nanny in 2009 and Friends in 2011.

Also today ABC announced that it will bench Commander in Chief for the rest of May sweeps. Primetime will be back in its old Thursday 10 p.m. slot replacing Chief. And airing Fridays at 9 will now be an extra AFV. ABC says Commander in Chief's final three episodes of the season will air sometime this summer. I wonder if they will still debut every Friday on abc.com? Probably not.

Before the mega hit The Cosby Show, Bill Cosby had a short-lived sitcom on NBC from 1968-71 titled The Bill Cosby Show. Shout! Factory will be releasing this series and they officially announced last Thursday that the first season will arrive August 22. The set was originally slated for July 11, at least according to Amazon.com, but we are proud to announce that August 22 will be the date. We will even see Mr. Cosby himself doing an interview for this set. Here is Shout! in their own words:
Many Bill Cosby fans don’t realize that the beloved Dr. Cliff Huxtable had an equally endearing predecessor, high school gym teacher Chet Kincaid. After winning two Emmy® awards for his groundbreaking co-starring role in the weekly television drama I Spy, Cosby tackled the sitcom with his 1969 self-monikered series, The Bill Cosby Show. Shout! Chet Kincaid (Cosby) is a gym teacher and basketball coach at an urban high school in Los Angeles, an all-around good guy and an inspiration to his friends, family and students. Kincaid’s good heart gets him into tons of predicaments, such as losing a one-on-one basketball game to a student he considered too short to make the team, his accidental involvement in a domestic dispute when he answers a pay phone, and escorting a date in a borrowed garbage truck.

In other DVD news, UrbanWorks has delayed the second season DVD of A Different World (a spin-off of The Cosby Show) from May 30 to July 11. A little birdie tells me that the reason could be so it could be closer to the third season DVD release of The Cosby Show.
