Last Man Standing Renewed for Season 8; NBC Moves Tuesday Series Timeslots

Fox has renewed the hit family comedy Last Man Standing, starring Tim Allen, for the 2019-2020 season. The series' return marks its second season on Fox, and eighth in total. Last Man Standing averages more than 11 million Multi-Platform viewers, ranking as the #1 scripted program on Friday night, with a 29% advantage over #2 Blue Bloods. The series improves upon Fox's year-ago Friday 8:00-8:30 PM half-hour by +50% in Adults 18-49 and +112% in Total Viewers. Last Man Standing's fall 2018 premiere was the most-watched Friday regular comedy telecast on any network in 15 years. In other Fox news, they have canceled freshman comedy Rel and sophomore drama The Gifted.
In the all-new, milestone 150th episode, "Yass Queen," airing tonight, Friday, April 19 from 8:00-8:30 PM ET/PT, on Fox, Mike (Allen) tries to help Mandy (Molly McCook) get her clothing line off the ground and into stores by inviting her to sit in on a business meeting with an aggressive sales rep (guest star Melissa Peterman). Meanwhile, Ed (Hector Elizondo) hires Kyle (Christoph Sanders) to transcribe his life story. The series also stars Nancy Travis, Amanda Fuller, Jordan Masterson, Jonathan Adams, Jet Jurgensmeyer and Krista Marie Yu. In celebration of the 150th episode, the original pilot for Last Man Standing will stream on Twitter tomorrow, Friday, April 19, for 12 hours starting at 9:00 AM PT. NBC is shifting two of its Tuesday series by moving The Village to 8 p.m. and The Voice to 9 p.m. The five-week change will begin April 23 and conclude May 21. The new season of America's Got Talent premieres on Tuesday, May 28 from 8-10 p.m. followed by the series premiere of Songland from 10-11 p.m. is still happening as previously announced. The Village is more time-shifted than The Voice and with HUT levels down at 8 p.m., many viewers will watch the show on a delayed basis. The Voice will now be a tentpole show at 9 p.m. touching on both the 8 and 10 p.m. shows. The Village follows an incredible group of people dwelling in the same Brooklyn apartment building. While these characters are not related by blood, they have become an unlikely family. As each resident grapples with their own personal struggle, their neighbors come together to support them and the show gives true meaning to the phrase "family is where you find it."
