SitcomsOnline Digest: Hulu Gets The Goldbergs; The A-Team Ready for a Reboot?; More Growing Pains to Arrive on DVD
HIGHLIGHTS FROM SITCOMSONLINE.COM AND AROUND THE WEB
- Acquisition deals used to be about which cable network gets the rights to a TV series, but these days, they are more about which streaming service gets the rights to a series. This week, Hulu got the rights to The Goldbergs. (Hollywood Reporter)
- What would Married... With Children look like if it happened to be in a mashup with Dexter? James Franco gives us an idea in his AOL series Making a Scene. (Huffington Post)
- It is somewhat intriguing that with all of the remakes that exist in the world, it took us until now to even think about a remake of The A-Team. (Deadline)
- It wouldn't be surprising if you haven't heard of the Fox comedy Cooper Barrett's Guide to Surviving Life, and that is because it is a midseason series that has yet to air, but apparently Fox executives were impressed enough to order seven additional episodes. (Deadline)
- Pilot season is usually the most boring time of the year for TV fans, as network executives comb through what they think viewers would like to see on the air (perhaps dismissing some series that may have been huge hits), but Amazon does things a bit different, of course, and their pilot season gets the viewers involved... and it is coming up again soon.
