SitcomsOnline Digest: More Arrested Development for Netflix; Hobbyist Creates Golden Girls LEGO Set; Simpsons DVDs Possibly Coming to an End?
- It looks like 17 more episodes of Arrested Development could be in the works for Netflix. (Variety)
- The idea of a Golden Girls LEGO set is probably one of the weirdest ideas ever, but it could actually become a reality. (Entertainment Weekly)
- The TV season is ending, and the question that remains up in the air is the one about how certain series, such as ABC's The Middle, can move on if certain cast members leave the show. (Deadline)
- Fresh Off the Boat is popular with viewers, but there is one person who really seems to hate everything about the show: Eddie Huang, the writer of the memoir that the series was based upon. (LA Times)
- James Best, who was known for his role of Roscoe P. Coltrane on The Dukes of Hazzard, died this week. (Washington Post)
- The Fox series The Last Man on Earth has been renewed for a second season. (SitcomsOnline)
HOME MEDIA HIGHLIGHTS
- Simpsons executive producer Al Jean had a piece of news that is certain to outrage some fans of The Simpsons and TV on DVD in general, as it was reported this week that Fox has decided to end their releases the series on DVD and Blu-ray. It is worth noting that the release of the first season of this series in 2001 was a major moment in TV on DVD history, as it marked the first time that a broadcast network comedy had been released in a season form (although HBO had a few releases that predated that one). The studio has not confirmed the ending of the DVDs.
- The Crazy Ones didn't last long on CBS, but Fox has released every episode of it as a MOD release this week, in The Crazy Ones - The Complete First Season.
- Fox is releasing American Dad - Volume 10 on May 19, also as a MOD release.
APRIL 14 HOME MEDIA RELEASES

- Growing Pains - The Complete Fourth Season (DVD, $35.99): Warner Archive will have you smiling a bit again as they continue the classic sitcom featuring the Seavers on DVD.
