ABC Summer 2010 Schedule Announced; Gospel Music Aquires Joan of Arcadia
Moving on to all-new series, we even get three new scripted series! The Gates premieres on Sunday, June 20 at 9:00 p.m. in the Desperate Housewives timeslot and new family drama Scoundrels premieres on Sunday, June 20 at 10:00 p.m. in the Brothers and Sisters timeslot. That is great scheduling by ABC to keep Sunday nights fresh in summer with similar-themed shows! The final scripted series is Rookie Blue and it will premiere on Thursday, June 24 at 9:00 p.m. in the Grey's Anatomy timeslot.
We also have all-new alternative series premiering this summer as well! The first is new game show Downfall on Tuesday, June 29 at 9:00 p.m. after an all-new Wipeout. Then The Bachelor/The Bachelorette all-star series Bachelor Pad premieres on Monday, August 9 from 8:00-10:00 p.m. after the run of The Bachelorette finishes on Aug. 2.
ABC News will produce quite a few series in the summer. First up is ABC News' Boston Med on Thursday, June 24 at 10:00 p.m., this series is similar to Hopkins a few summers ago. Primetime: Mind Games launches with its series premiere on Tuesday, July 20 at 10:00 p.m., while ABC News' Head Cases launches on Thursday, August 19 at 10:00 p.m. when the run of Boston Med is over. And finally Primetime: Crime returns for an all-new season on Tuesday, August 24 at 10:00 p.m. following the conclusion of Primetime: Mind Games. As we previously reported, Primetime: What Would You Do? is slated to air Fridays at 9pm starting May 7.
Additional series and specials will be announced at a later date. So stay with us as a few timeslots are still TBD, such as Sundays at 8, Thursdays at 8, and Tuesdays at 10 (from June 22-July 13). Perhaps Secret Millionaire will take one (or two) of those slots.
Anyway for now, read info on all these series so you know what they are about! And view the schedule for the entire summer, which includes repeats of ABC Comedy Wednesday (the only night of repeats Sun-Thurs this summer on ABC). Stay with us for further updates!
What if God was one of us? The Gospel Music Channel (GMC) has acquired the rights to air the short-lived drama Joan of Arcadia! The series starts with a launch marathon on Sunday, April 11 2010 from 10am-7pm with the first 9 episodes of the series. After the marathon is over the series will air weeknights in primetime airing back-to-back at 9pm and 10pm ET. It will be replacing second airings of Doc and Promised Land, but those series will still remain in its other slots in the afternoon (Doc at 5pm and Promised Land at 3pm). There are no other schedule changes so you can still enjoy sitcoms Cosby, Amen and Sister Sister along with family dramas Dr. Quinn, Sue Thomas F.B.Eye and more!
Joan of Arcadia stars Amber Tamblyn, Joe Mantegna, Mary Steenburgen and Jason Ritter. Visit the GMC show page for more info. The series has also aired in reruns on Syfy on and off. In fact Syfy is airing it next on Monday, May 3 from 8am-4pm in their daily daytime rotation marathon.
GMC is available on DirecTV channel 338 and also on cable, but check your local listings. GMC is giving you a chance to win a Joan of Arcadia DVD set as well! Just head on over to Twitter and "retweet" this message! Good luck!
