Day 60: WGA's Strike; TV One February 2008 Highlights, Divorce Court Joins Line-Up
The Writers Guild of America, West (WGAW) issued the following statement regarding the Golden Globe Awards:
"Dick Clark Productions is a struck company. As previously announced, the Writers Guild will be picketing the Golden Globe Awards.
The WGA has great respect and admiration for the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, but we are engaged in a crucial struggle that will protect our income and intellectual property rights for generations to come. We will continue to do everything in our power to bring industry negotiations to a fair conclusion. In the meantime, we are grateful for the ongoing support of the Hollywood talent community."
It will be interesting to see what happens for this.
Now let's take a look at TV One February 2008. We will only comment and highlight series programming schedule news and stunts. On Valentine's Day, TV One takes a look at the flip side of love and marriage with a marathon premiere of "The Best of Divorce Court." Beginning Thursday, February 14 at 4pm, and running through 6am the following morning, its wall-to-wall love drama, presided over by original 'Divorce Court' host, Judge Mablean Ephriam. Divorce Court officially joins the weekday TV One lineup the following day, Friday, February 15, with an hour of episodes airing each weekday at 4pm. With Divorce Court airing 4-5pm replacing an airing of NY Undercover, other changes will include afternoon airings of Wanda at Large and Hangin' with Mr. Cooper moving from 2-3pm to 1-2pm, which means Roc at 1:30pm is now gone...but Roc will still air 6-7am weekday mornings. And that 4pm airing NY Undercover is moved to 2pm.
On Sunday, February 17, TV One celebrates a day of "Diva Style," with a full day of glamour, fashion, and hair. Events kick off with a six hour marathon of Eve (from 2pm to 8pm) focusing on the sitcom's fashion boutique setting and the glamorous style of the sitcom's star, rapper/designer/actress, Eve.
Finally, TV One celebrates "Our History Month" comically by honoring the activism and politics of one Michael Evans from Good Times with the "Militant Midget Marathon" (based on a popular nickname for the character) on Saturday, February 23 beginning at 1pm. All-day long, the youngest member of the Evans family, Michael, will try to keep the Black race uplifted, informed, and entertained. The marathon runs until 10pm, and then airs again in the overnight hours from 3am to 6am.
If we have any more news we will return. So check back once again.
