New & Old 'Dick Cavett Show' on TCM; 'Golden Girl' Fighting Age with 2 Components
The special is to be taped before a live audience on a contemporized version of the original set from the '70s, will feature Cavett doing an in-depth interview with Mel Brooks.
In addition, TCM has acquired rights to eight episodes of the original talk show, featuring one-hour interviews with Robert Mitchum, Bette Davis, Ingmar Bergman, Alfred Hitchcock, Woody Allen, Groucho Marx and two with Katharine Hepburn.
Archive episodes are also slated for September. Cavett will supplement interviews with new introductions.
The Associated Press reports on a 'Golden Girl' fighting age with two unlikely components: Rue McClanahan recommends two forms of exercise to fight the effects of aging: weightlifting and frequent sex. "It just depends on the availability of the material," the 72-year-old actress said Friday. "Dumbbells are easy to come by, but most of them are married."
McClanahan said that she used a positive attitude and a sense of humor to help defeat breast cancer, which she was diagnosed with in June 1997, and she's using those same attributes to embrace aging. McClanahan's autobiography, My First Five Husbands, will be released around Mothers' Day in 2007, she said.
The veteran actress has appeared in many series as a regular such as Maude, The Golden Girls, Mama's Family, and The Golden Palace. She has guest starred on many series as well such as All in the Family, Alice, Newhart, Gimme a Break!, Charles in Charge, Empty Nest, Nurses, Boy Meets World, recently on Hope & Faith and so many more.
