SitcomsOnline Digest: Jeffrey Tambor (Almost) Officially Out at Transparent; More Alice on DVD

Welcome to SitcomsOnline Digest! As expected, we have a sort of slow news week this week due to the holiday, and much of what we have isn't great news with numerous deaths and more fallout from the sexual harassment scandals. Let's get going!

HIGHLIGHTS FROM SITCOMSONLINE.COM AND AROUND THE WEB
  • We mentioned last week that Jeffrey Tambor may be leaving the popular Amazon Prime series Transparent due to sexual harassment allegations against him, and now, he appears to be walking away from the series instead of waiting to see if he is going to be fired. (Variety)
  • The Good Place isn't exactly the biggest hit on all of television, but it has been given a very early renewal for a third season by NBC. (Hollywood Reporter)
  • "So much time wasted" was the last thing that David Cassidy, best known for his role of Keith Partridge on The Partridge Family, told his daughter this week before he died. (Huffington Post)
  • Charlie Rose, who has been a seemingly permanent fixture on PBS for two and a half decades and a part of the CBS News team for the past few years, is now no longer doing either of those jobs due to his part in the ongoing sexual harassment scandals. (Washington Post)
  • Peter Baldwin, who had directing credits for series including The Mary Tyler Moore Show, The Wonder Years, and many other series over four decades, has died at age 86. (Deadline
  • Among other sitcom related deaths this week in this (sadly) busy week of them: Ann Wedgeworth, Earle Hyman, and Della Reese. (SitcomsOnline
  • For something a little lighter, here is a fun story that we missed a few weeks ago about the investigation of the Donald Trump presidential campaign and Russia ended up causing the TV series Webster trending on Twitter. (Romper)

Alice - The Complete Sixth Season

Who to Follow: Katie Cassidy (Twitter), "Actor, Writer & Creative Director of @tomboykc"
Claim to Fame: Most people know David Cassidy, who died this week, from his fame on The Partridge Family. What some people may not realize is that he has a daughter who is an uprising actress in her own right, Katie Cassidy. Katie Cassidy first came to fame at age 15 from doing a cover of her father's song "I Think I Love You," but that was her first and last experience in the music industry. But acting has been good for her, as she has been cast in three series that didn't make it past one season, but finally struck gold with her role in the series Arrow.
Pick of the Tweets: "Words cant express the solace our family’s received from all the love & support during this trying time. My father’s last words were “So much wasted time”. This will be a daily reminder for me to share my gratitude with those I love as to never waste another minute....thank you." (November 24, 2017)
