Alec Baldwin Goes Live on NBC in 2018; Nick Sitcom Star Gets Nick Movie
Fresh off his remarkable two Emmy Award nominations last week, Alec Baldwin, a two-time Emmy winner and Tony Award and Oscar nominee who has been on top of the cultural zeitgeist with his performance as President Donald Trump on Saturday Night Live, has been cast as Col. Nathan Jessep in NBC's upcoming live A Few Good Men, from esteemed playwright and Oscar and Emmy winner Aaron Sorkin, who will executive produce and adapt his own play for the broadcast. Baldwin and Sorkin will join Craig Zadan and Neil Meron as executive producers of A Few Good Men. Zadan and Meron's Hairspray Live! received seven Emmy nominations last week, including Outstanding Special Class Program. A Few Good Men will air in the second quarter of 2018. A date will be announced soon.
Set in 1986 and taking place in Washington, D.C., and the U.S. Naval Base in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, A Few Good Men centers on newbie military lawyer Lt. Daniel Kaffee, who comes up against the formidable Col. Jessep when he is asked to defend three Marines on trial for murder. Tom Hulce (Amadeus) was nominated for a Tony for his portrayal of Kaffee on Broadway. The film adaptation starred Tom Cruise as Lt. Kaffee and Jack Nicholson as Col. Jessep.
Nickelodeon announced the start of production on a brand-new original TV movie, Inside Voice, starring Nick sitcom star Jace Norman (Henry Danger, Splitting Adam, Rufus), JoJo Siwa (JoJo Siwa: My World, Dance Moms) and Daniella Perkins (Knight Squad, Legendary Dudas). Set to premiere in 2018, the live-action comedy tells the story of a kid who, after a comical VR mishap, starts speaking every thought he has out loud. To complicate matters, he happens to be running in the school election. Production is underway in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. When nice-guy Jeremy Martin (Jace Norman) puts on mysterious virtual reality glasses at the mall, he suddenly loses his "inside voice" and starts spouting every thought he has out loud. Making matters worse, Jeremy is running for student council president against his classmate Milly (Daniella Perkins), who is full of great ideas to improve the school. Desperate to get back to normal, Jeremy and his sister Victoria (JoJo Siwa) must figure out how to convince his brain that he can speak up for himself.
