Close Out 2008 and Ring in 2009 with New Year's TV Marathons!

It is the last day of 2008 and it is time to close out 2008 and open 2009 with some TV marathons! We told you about many of them already, too! Let's start with New Year's Eve, which is today. If you don't want to watch any of the College Football Bowl games, you're in luck because we have many TV marathons, including sitcoms! WGN America has a Honeymooners marathon, as we mentioned previously, starting at 8pm running until 3:30am ET before starting up again on New Year's Day at 10am through 10pm. WPIX in New York will also have its annual Honeymooners marathon as well of course starting at midnight to 5am tonight and then again tomorrow from 9am-8pm. And we mentioned yesterday that Me-Too in Chicago will have a Three Stooges marathon today from 9am-3am and a movie marathon on New Year's Day. TV Land closes out 2008 with an I Love Lucy marathon, and also the show ends its run on TV Land, as the show moves to Hallmark Channel this weekend. Oxygen has a morning block of Roseanne from 9am-3pm. Not in the mood for comedy? Sci Fi has a Twilight Zone marathon starting today at 8am and running all the way until Friday at 6am...wow! Then Sci Fi has an all-day marathon of Stargate Atlantis on Friday. GSN has a block of the Dick Clark game show $100,000 Pyramid. Who said that the ball drop is all that Dick Clark can be seen in on New Year's Eve? TV One has a marathon block of Divorce Court today from 11am-5pm. You know TBS has a 24-hour marathon of A Christmas Story? Well now USA will start their own tradition and have a 24-hour marathon of Elf starting at 6am. Versus will have another Rocky movie marathon from 11am-10pm, with the first five films. Other notable marathons today include CSI on Spike TV, Drake & Josh on Nick, Project Runway on Bravo and Keeping Up With the Kardashians on E! The Spiderman animated series marathon will be for two straight days on Toon Disney.

On New Year's Day, we mentioned a lot already, too. But we didn't mention The Andy Griffith Show marathon in Los Angeles on KDOC starting at 10am! Me-TV in Chicago we mentioned will also have an Andy Griffith Show marathon, as that show launches on that station with a marathon from 9am-11pm. We won't repeat the continuation marathons from above that start on New Year's Eve and go into New Year's Day, since we mentioned that above. But the other New Year's Day marathons we mentioned were the launch of The Jeffersons on TV One from 10am-6am. Sanford & Son launches the next night with a 24-hour marathon. TV Land says welcome to "Jan" 1st with a Jan Brady centric marathon of The Brady Bunch from 12pm-6pm! The N welcomes its newest sitcom, What I Like About You, with a big marathon celebration that will last for over a week! SOAPnet will repurpose all of the season two episodes so far of the ABC hit Private Practice from 9am-7pm, as you get ready for all-new episodes on its new night--Thursdays, the following week on ABC. Spike goes with a CSI: NY marathon on New Year's Day, while TNT goes digging for some Bones, USA goes crime watching with Monk, and Bravo welcomes the new year with a resolution for Americans trying to lose weight with a block of The Biggest Loser. Other notables include a Looney Tunes marathon on Cartoon Network (wow, they are airing classic stuff for one day?), South Park on Comedy Central, Iron Chef on Food Network, and American Idol on Fox Reality. And if you missed the Rocky movies on Versus on New Year's Eve, catch them on A&E on Thursday and Friday starting 3pm on Thursday.

Close out 2008 in style! Don't forget to tune in at least for the last few minutes of 2008 as the ball drops in Times Squares. Dick Clark is the way to go on ABC for that. What's your New Year's Resolution? Start thinking!
