TNT Airing The West Wing Reruns on Fridays; Kate Mulgrew Joins Star Trek Animated Comedy

To support the importance of voting and to raise awareness for HBO Max's A West Wing Special to Benefit When We All Vote, TNT will air Friday marathons of The West Wing, in October leading up to the general election in November. This installment of election-themed episodes from the Emmy®- and Peabody Award–winning hit Warner Bros. Television drama series serve as a valentine to voting. The marathon will begin and end with "Hartsfield's Landing," the same episode penned by creator Aaron Sorkin that will be enacted by the original cast on the Orpheum Theater's stage during the HBO Max special, which premieres October 15. A West Wing Special to Benefit When We All Vote marks the first time in 17 years that the original cast of The West Wing will come together with creator Aaron Sorkin and executive producer/director Thomas Schlamme. The West Wing stars DulĂ© Hill, Allison Janney, Rob Lowe, Janel Moloney, Richard Schiff, Bradley Whitford, and Martin Sheen will reprise their roles from the episode.
Additionally, A West Wing Special to Benefit When We All Vote will include act breaks with guest appearances from When We All Vote co-chair Michelle Obama, President Bill Clinton, Lin-Manuel Miranda and more. Fans will also be treated to the musical talents of legendary Emmy® award–winning composer W.G. Snuffy Walden, who will take to his guitar to play the iconic score for The West Wing theme song. Folk rock band, The Avett Brothers, will also close out the special. The creative team and cast organized this historic production in order to raise awareness for and support the vital mission of When We All Vote, a non-profit, nonpartisan organization co-chaired by Michelle Obama, which was founded to increase participation in every election in America. In honor of the special, WarnerMedia will make a donation to When We All Vote.

Nickelodeon and CBS Studios announced that Kate Mulgrew (Star Trek: Voyager) will reprise her role as Captain Kathryn Janeway in Nickelodeon's all-new animated comedy series Star Trek: Prodigy. The news was revealed as a surprise announcement during the Star Trek Universe virtual panel at New York Comic Con. Additional casting news will be announced in the coming months.
Developed by Emmy(R) Award winners Kevin and Dan Hageman (Trollhunters and Ninjago) and overseen for Nickelodeon by Naito, Star Trek: Prodigy follows a group of lawless teens who discover a derelict Starfleet ship and use it to search for adventure, meaning and salvation. The CG-animated series will debut exclusively on Nickelodeon in 2021 for a new generation of fans. Star Trek: Prodigy is from CBS' Eye Animation Productions, CBS Studios' new animation arm; Secret Hideout; and Roddenberry Entertainment. Alex Kurtzman, Heather Kadin, Katie Krentz, Rod Roddenberry and Trevor Roth will serve as executive producers alongside co-showrunners Kevin and Dan Hageman. Ben Hibon will direct, co-executive produce and serve as the creative lead of the all-new animated series. Star Trek: Prodigy joins the expanding Star Trek franchise for ViacomCBS as the first Star Trek series aimed at younger audiences for Nickelodeon. The Star Trek Universe on CBS All Access currently includes hit original series Star Trek: Discovery, Star Trek: Picard, the animated series Star Trek: Lower Decks, the upcoming Star Trek: Strange New Worlds and the development of a Section 31-based series with Michelle Yeoh.
