New NBC Tina Fey-Produced Comedy Starring Ellie Kemper in 2014; Sitcom Stars on Talk Shows (Week of November 4, 2013)

NBC has ordered 13 episodes of a new single-camera comedy from multiple Emmy Award winners Tina Fey and Robert Carlock. Ellie Kemper is set to star. Produced by Universal Television and Little Stranger, Inc., and set to debut in fall 2014, the series will center on a woman (Kemper) who escapes from a doomsday cult and starts life over in New York City. Fey and Carlock, who will serve as writers for the series, will executive produce with David Miner. Fey, who created and executive produced the critically beloved NBC comedy 30 Rock, recently won an Emmy, along with Tracey Wigfield, for co-writing the series finale episode, "Last Lunch." As an actress, writer and executive producer on both 30 Rock and Saturday Night Live, Fey has won eight Emmys. Kemper is also an NBC alum, having co-starred in the Emmy-winning comedy The Office. Kerry Washington joins “Live in Front of a Studio Audience: Norman Lear’s ‘All in the Family’ and ‘The Jeffersons,’” the live sitcom special coming from late-night host Jimmy Kimmel and television icon Norman Lear. Washington is set to play Helen Willis in the special, airing live WEDNESDAY, MAY 22 (8:00-9:31 p.m. EDT), on The ABC Television Network. This historic event will take viewers down memory lane, recreating an original episode from each of the Emmy® Award-winning series “All in the Family” and “The Jeffersons.” This legendary night of television will be hosted by Lear and Kimmel, directed by 10-time Emmy winner James Burrows and produced by Sony Pictures Television.
