Freeform Greenlights Indian Sitcom Pilot; Terry Crews Gets Christmas Specials on The CW


Freeform grows its production slate by greenlighting the new comedy pilot Brown Girls from writers Shilpi Roy and Nastaran Dibai. The pilot centers on the relationship between Rimmi, an Indian-American aspiring beauty vlogger, and Devi, a young woman who has recently emigrated from India. Brought together by family, Rimmi and Devi instantly clash over their different views on modern life and love while slowly realizing they both have something to learn from one another. Brown Girls is written by co-executive producer Shilpi Roy (Hipsterhood) and executive producer Nastaran Dibai (Malibu Country, According to Jim), and is executive produced by Tracy Katsky, Aaron Kaplan and Dana Honor. Brown Girls is a multi-camera comedy that joins Freeform's recently announced pilot slate including, single-camera comedy Alone Together, magazine drama Issues and mermaid thriller The Deep.

Terry Crews

Multimedia entertainment studio Electus, an operating business of IAC, announced that The CW will debut Terry Crews Saves Christmas, a week-long, holiday-themed special premiering Tuesday, December 20 at 8:00 pm ET. In each episode, comedy superstar Terry Crews will visit a hopeless holiday enthusiast and put them through a hilarious crash-course in how to do Christmas right. After spying on the makings of a Christmas mess, an expert team led by Terry and his no-nonsense food, beverage and design experts, will intervene and provide tips and tricks to pull off a Christmas that friends and family will remember for years to come. Five one-hour episodes will air on consecutive nights in the week leading up to Christmas on The CW. Full schedule below:

Jack (Glenn Howerton) receives an offer from Miles' (Tom Bennett) publisher to write a book of feel-good philosophy that could be his ticket out of Toledo. Durbin accidentally sets off an emotional firestorm when he reveals that while Stef (Lyric Lewis) chose Mary (Mary Sohn) as her emergency contact, Mary chose Michelle (Jean Villepique).
