SitcomsOnine Digest: Jenna Elfman Looking for Another Shot at a Sitcom; Tonight Show Gives Parodies of Saved by the Bell and The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air

Welcome to SitcomsOnline Digest! This week, we've got news of a new sitcom pilot in the works with Jenna Elfman, an update on the Emmy Awards for this year (they're not on a Monday this time!), a few sitcom tributes from The Tonight Show, and more. Let's get going!

  • Jenna Elfman is looking for another chance at sitcom success, and a pilot is in works at Fox that may just do that. (Deadline)
  • Fox is airing the Emmy Awards this year, and unlike last year's bizarre Monday night in August event NBC put together last year, it will return to a traditional Sunday night in September spot. (TVLine)
  • Jimmy Fallon took The Tonight Show to Los Angeles this week, and while there, he visited some of his old friends at Bayside High in a Saved by the Bell reunion skit that brought many of the original cast members back together. (Tonight Show/NBC)
  • Saved by the Bell wasn't the only sitcom that Fallon saluted while in Los Angeles. In fact, he started his first show of the week by doing a remake of the opening credits of The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air. (Tonight Show/NBC)
  • NBC hasn't had a lot of success with comedies lately, but they're trying harder with their dramas, and have already renewed five of them for next season. (SitcomsOnline)
  • It looks like the sitcom The McCarthys is coming to an end after a short run on CBS. (SitcomsOnline)

  • Hart to Hart - The Complete Fourth Season (DVD, $39.97): Shout! Factory continues with the classic action series on DVD.
  • Mama's Family - The Complete Sixth Season (DVD, $29.98): StarVista wraps up this classic Vicki Lawrence series on DVD, for those who prefer individual seasons over a release of the entire series.
  • Nurse Jackie - Season Six (DVD, $29.98; Blu-ray, $29.97): The Showtime series about the pill-popping (but highly functional) nurse returns to DVD with the next-to-last season.

Who to Follow: Christoph Sanders (Twitter), "Currently playing Kyle on ABCs Last Man Standing"
Claim to Fame: The Twitter tagline says it all... Cristoph Sanders currently plays the role of Kyle on the ABC series Last Man Standing. While this is probably his best known role (so far, at least), it wasn't his first role. He started out with a small role in the movie Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby, which was filmed near his hometown in North Carolina. He then moved to Hollywood in hopes of getting more roles. He previously had a role on the CBS series Ghost Whisperer.
