Happy New Year, Start of Another Decade; ABC Family Looks Back at 2009

Happy New Year everyone! We welcome in 2010 with a bang! It is the start of another decade and I just can't believe it has been 10 years since 2000. Time really does fly. We even enter our fifth year on this news blog. Good god. Stay tuned this coming summer for the actual 5th anniversary! But for now, Happy New Year!

As we welcome in 2010, let's take a look back at ABC Family in 2009! The other day we gave you some of TBS's highlights of 2009, so today we will do the same for ABC Family. 2009 ranked as ABC Family's most-watched year on record in primetime in Total Viewers (1.4 million), Adults 18-34 (329,000), Adults 18-49 (613,000) and Viewers 12-34 (545,000), as well as across key Women 18-34 (220,000), Women 18-49 (394,000) and Females 12-34 (374,000). In fact, 2009 marked the net's 6th consecutive year of growth in Total Viewers, Adults 18-34 and Viewers 12-34, and the 4th straight year in Women 18-34 and Women 18-49.
Impressively, for the first time in the net's history, ABC Family ranked among the Top 10 cable networks in Prime in Total Viewers (No. 10), Adults 18-34 (No. 8) and Adults 18-49 (No. 8), and among the Top 5 in Women 18-49 (No. 5). In Women 18-34, the network ranked a high No. 4 for the second straight year.
ABC Family's No. 1 original series of all time, critically-acclaimed The Secret Life of the American Teenager, stood as cable's No. 1 series in Viewers 12-34 (2.6 million/2.8 rating), Females 12-34 (2.1 million/4.7 rating), Teens 12-17 (1.3 million/5.2 rating) and Female Teens (1.1 million/9.4 rating), and cable's No. 1 scripted series in Women 18-34 (1.0 million/3.0 rating).
Hit freshman series Make It or Break It was cable's No. 2 scripted series in 2009 in Females 12-34 (1.2 million/2.6 rating) and the No. 2 Female Teens (625,000/5.2 rating).
In original movie wise, Another Cinderella Story (1/18/09, 8:00-10:00 p.m.) was cable's No. 1 ad-supported movie in Total Viewers (5.7 million).
In Total Day, 2009 also qualified as ABC Family's most-watched year on record in Adults 18-34 (195,000), Women 18-34 (139,000), Adults 18-49 (330,000) and Women 18-49 (227,000).
Looks like ABC Family will probably even grow more in 2010!

When Grandma Huang decides to move out, Louis panics and does everything he can to make sure she knows how welcome she is. Meanwhile, Eddie, Nicole and their friends plan to wear matching suits to the school dance until a dress code demands that the girls must wear dresses, leading Eddie and Nicole to rebel.

black-ish - "Things Were Different Then" (ABC, 9:00PM ET/PT)
Dre reluctantly helps Junior plan Pops’ 65th birthday party and starts to see his dad’s past in a new light. Meanwhile, Bow decides to say “yes” to everything for a whole year and Jack & Diane take advantage of her.

Modern Family - "The Long Goodbye" (ABC, 9:30PM ET/PT) (Repeat)
Phil and Claire realize that Alex may be more self-sufficient in college than they give her credit for when they drop in for a quick visit. Meanwhile, Manny is determined to avoid a long tearful goodbye after Gloria and Jay move him into his college dorm. Finally, Mitch may have accidentally accelerated a planned renovation, and Hayley gets an unexpected opportunity when she befriends a wealthy female member at the country club.

LA to Vegas - "Overbooked" (Fox, 9:00PM ET/PT)
The crew is forced to figure out how to get the passengers to give up their seats when the flight is overbooked; Nichole makes good money selling snacks while the flight is kept on hold; Artem has an argument with an surprise seatmate.

The Mick - "The Car" (Fox, 9:30PM ET/PT)
Jimmy and Mickey mistakenly lock Ben inside an old car Jimmy purchased at a police auction; Alba discovers that Chip has been assuming the identity of Sabrina's online crush in secret, but Alba decides to actively encourage his actions.

Chip laments becoming a fake Christmas tree person.
